I’m curious about people’s thoughts on clans/groups and want to know what is the worst thing about running a clan/group and also ask people what’s the worst thing about clans/groups to them. I’m interested in seeing both sides as some may see clans as a good way to meet friends like a group but some may hate them for other reasons, some may look at groups for just lfg and to get carries but some don’t, some find recruiting tough but some find it fun and some may find it easy to run a group or not, either way comment below and let’s get a discussion going as curious about how owners/ leaders and people who ain’t running groups feel and same for the anti clan folks etc
My main issue is commitment and the fact I bounce from game to game. If I joined a clan and they required certain criteria to be part of said clan I don’t see myself committing to a clan. I like to play what I am in the mood for which conflicts with point of view of clans.
That’s a fair point, it depends on what each clan/ group asks for some ask for now and then some ask for 24/7 it varies from group to clan etc
Thank you for the thread ![]()
As there are many questions from the OP haha, I will do my best to answer from both perspectives; being a current leader in a clan, to having joined and attempted to join many in the past
Running a clan:
<:// Cons
- Keeping up momentum, maintaining regular events / gamenights; having others host and helping with that workload too
- Recruiting new members, through Discord and in-game
- Keeping things interesting, despite the lack of in-game content*
- Moderating and maintaining order, understanding what is not worth dealing with and what needs to be called forward without being to strict
<:// Pros
- Meeting new people and giving them a place to connect and play with other people in matchmaking
- Improving gameplay in custom games with consistent players (FFA)
- Having the game being more interesting, as you have other people to play; instead of playing solo
- Providing a container for those to help improve your clan, providing them opportunities for community and leadership
I’ve created my Halo community OR1ON, from the past experience I’ve attained from other clans (one being 4 years service, the other 1 year and a half; both well structured and active), to then provide that experience for other Halo players who may or not have had that oppurtunity beforehand
The main reason why I created OR1ON, is to have other people to play with. The secondary reason, is to provide extra content to what the game has already; gamenights in matchmaking and custom games, versing other clans etc
Joining a clan:
<:// Cons
- Having a strict ranking structure / leadership in place, where it is hard to contribute your ideas or support
- Having to abide by what others may deem is fair, rather than what you know to be fair
- Having to maintain a strict activty schedule (only when required)
- Adhering to others expectations, rather than your own
<:// Pros
- Having a community of people to play with, so you are not having to solo in matchmaking
- Having extra ‘in-game’ content, by having either ranking system to progress through or attaining clan awards on their Discord or Headquarters
- Having the opportunity to verse other clans with your clan; again providing extra in-game content
- Attaining an experience that gives more than what the game has to offer by itself; a community of people who consistently play Halo together and provide extra content for the game
There are many reasons to join a clan - and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to enhance their online Halo experience - although you have to be careful who you join. There are many great (current) clans that I have seen, but in hand it’s the leadership that you have to keep an eye on
There are great leaders, and there are bad leaders, wherever you may go. If you find yourself in a toxic community - with not good leadership - then you know that you can find something better
Conclusion:
I would add more, but I would like to keep this as short as possible haha. I hope this sums it up well from the perspectives of both sides. I have repeated myself in some points, but it is for the very simple fact of:
The reason why it is good to join a clan, is that you have a group of people to consistently play with and form connections
If you have any further questions, I will be more than happy to reply. I have many years experience regarding this, and would be more than happy to answer any other questions you may have
Hope you found what I had to say interesting, thanks for reading and thanks for sharing ![]()
