If you don’t already know specializations are something that occurs after you hit the max level in war games. Once you hit the max level you can choose a specialization that sort of forces you into a certain play style (I don’t know anything about it but I would imagine something like a precision class that only lets you use far range weapons or a CQC class).
Now 343 have already said that with these specializations once you are done with one you can switch over and do it all again but can you switch mid specialization. For instance, say I choose the CQC class and realize its not for me, can I just choose to back out and go to another specialization, and to that effect if I can what happens to the progress I made on the CQC class?
Specializations arent forcing you to a certain playstyle. They allow you to tune your spartan to your style by giving exclusive armor , emblems etc
From what I understand, after reaching the max rank you can reenlist with a specialization which basically gives you extra things to unlock such as weapon and armour skins, emblems and support and tactical armour mods which will suit the specialization that you chose, for example choosing a “Sniper” Specialization will let you unlock Sniper-related emblems and other things such as armour mods which will make it so you don’t zoom out when shot or something like that. At least that’s how I think it’ll work. My guess is that the Limited Edition will either give you exclusive Specializations, let you unlock certain Specializations early or lets you unlock things for those Specializations early.
The only thing I’m not really sure about is if you go back to rank 1 and have to unlock everything again or you just carry on unlocking extra stuff.

This! Choosing a specialization will allow you to unlock armor and maybe other things that are EXCLUSIVE to that specialization. If we were to use Reach as an example, if you chose the Close Quarter specialization, you’d unlock the CQC helmet and shoulders, and the Assualt/Breacher wrist. It won’t force you into using a select amount of weapons. That would be counter productive to the depth that 343i is trying to add to the sandbox.
However, to answer your question, little information is available about specializations right now. Exactly how they work has not been confirmed, and your question can not be answered by the community at this time. We don’t have enough information.
