A question for 343 about BWC DLC

Alright so 343 this question is aimed directly for you to answer. Since you gave us the flaming helmet on Halo 3 for MCC will you consider adding it as Halo 3 XB1 DLC at some point as well as the Halo 4 pre-order armors since a lot of people will be playing these games for the first time on Xbox One?

Obviously I don’t work for 343, but chances are that it won’t happen. I think what they’re releasing as free DLC is stuff that’s already in the store, I don’t think you can find the flaming helmet or Halo 4 pre-order armors in the store.

Flaming recon was earned to a select few besides bungie employees.

Yes I am aware but since Bungie is no longer around, I figured either 343 would automatically unlock it, or put it up as DLC.

Well see I’d agree with you if it weren’t for one small thing, Reach’s flaming helmet, the red one, is up on the store on the Xbox One, but even though you can look at it you can’t buy it, now I don’t know if this is a glitch 343 overlooked, or just some bad luck or what, but Reachs DLC on the Xbox One has had its own problems, that I believe 343 said they planned to address when 3 and 4 come out, so it’s a possibility, just really slim.

I just checked the store, and I don’t see the flaming helmet on its own. I see the Legendary Edition Bonus content, but obviously that’s DLC tied to a bundle; if you didn’t get the Legendary Edition, you didn’t get the orange flames. It’s not a glitch or an oversight. It’s simply content that you can only get a certain way, like the preorder bonuses. It’s separate from the map pack DLCs that can be purchased standalone. The same applies to special editions of current gen games.

Then why is it on the store? If it’s legendary edition DLC, it shouldn’t be on the shop, it’s not on the 360 shop so why is it on the Xbox 1?

If you bought the legendary edition, you get a code to unlock the legendary bonus content. That bonus content still needed to be downloaded from the Xbox Marketplace, where it was stored; the code was just to let you access it. That’s why it’s on the shop; because it has to be there so when people enter the code it can be downloaded. It’s also good that it’s in the shop because that way, if someone somehow lost their data, they could redownload their content (because they already unlocked it with the code, so they can redownload whenever).
I don’t know what shop you are looking at; if you go to the Microsoft Store website or app, you see both Xbox One and Xbox 360 items.

I mean I still think it’d be cool of 343 to give out the flaming helmet for Halo 3 DLC, and Halo 4 Pre-order DLC at some point. I mean it makes sense for the Halo 3 flames as Bungie is no longer in charge.

Bungie didn’t use the red flames for their employees during Halo Reach. Bungie employees had blue flames. But in 2011, Bungie released an app that let you get the blue flames for your Reach Spartan as well as a Bungie nameplate. It was a parting gift to the players as they transitioned away from the Halo franchise. If you missed out, then you’re just out of luck.

I don’t think this is going to happen. Personally not sure why people want old exclusive stuff to be not exclusive now.

From my understanding, you will not be able to get the flames at all anymore on Halo 3. That is due to their ability and access to those modifications in the Halo 3 universe. Sadly, the only way you probably can have it is if you either already had it and received it from Bungie, or you find a someone who can mod it. BUT, I would not suggest that at all, but have seen players with it in Halo 3 MM nowadays.

Yeah I’m gonna say don’t do this at all and in future please don’t recommend it. Modding any part of your profile or game is against Xbox Live Terms of Service and will get you a permanent ban from Xbox Live once the system catches on.
