A question about seasons

What’s the point in resetting ranks if you end up playing against people in your “bracket” immediately during your placements?

Example: I place Diamond 4 in January. February resets the ranks. I have 0/10 placements. I enter my first placement match. I play against a team of:

4/10 placements done, last season Diamond 1.
8/10 placements done, last season Onyx 15XX.
This season Diamond 3.
This season Diamond 6.

What’s the point in resetting ranks if I’m going to be placed against the same people regardless of whether I have a rank yet or not? Wouldn’t it be better to start everyone in their first few placement games against completely random opponents and then sort it out that way? It acts like we have a clean slate, but we still have our hidden skill, and the visual skill clearly doesn’t matter.

If I’m going to be playing against the same opponents regardless, please let me keep the rank I have so I can at least work towards improving it, rather than starting back at Diamond 1. It’s no secret that ranking up is considerably harder than deranking, and you need a full team with mics to win multiple games in a row of Diamond level Slayer. Stop resetting the ranks, only to place me against the very same opponents.

I believe it places based off of your last season’s rank. So even though you haven’t played through your placement matches, it puts you up against people based on your previous rank. Plus, they have expanded the range of players you go up against so you may be matched with an Onyx even though you’re Diamond. Hope that clears things up a little.

Agree, seasons are 100% pointless!!! or if you are going to have them, actually make them “seasons” Personality I think seasons and rank resets are terrible. IMO more people then not do not want to “grind” all the way back up to the top over, and over and over again. A much better system is, everybody starts at the bottom and works there way up. Also for Halo 6, can we go back to military ranks please like Halo 3 Had. We are the UNSC aren’t we? I’d rather be know as a General then an Onyx thank you very much.
