A question about Halo 4's engine.

I feel that it’s really, really advanced, maybe TOO advanced for the 360 hardware, as can be seen while playing split-screen. I’m really glad you guys upgraded it to such an extent, but is it capable of 60FPS? I know Halo 4 runs at 30FPS or so, but I’m curious if the possibility was there for the game to run at 60FPS.

And is Halo 4 on the 360 the best example of how powerful this new engine is? Or did you guys have to downscale some things to make it work?

Also, will we ever get a name for the Halo engine? I remember at some point that you guys said you had some really cool internal name for the lighting engine, but weren’t allowed to share it. Will it always just be known as the Halo engine?

I’m really impressed with graphical capabilities of the Halo 4 engine, especially the lighting, I was blown away. If Halo 5 looks just as good, or even better, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us! You guys at 343 are technical geniuses!

I’m pretty sure that Halo: Reach ran at 30 FPS, as well.

Bungie and 343i develop their own software suite which includes tools such as Sapien, Guerilla, etc. Those are the technical names if you were wondering. How Halo 4 runs on an Xbox is beyond me, the system is outdated and the game looks beautiful.

The Xbox can hardly run Halo 4 at 30 frames as is. There is no way we’d be able to have both native 720p and 60 frames at the same time on current hardware.

Yeah, I’m certain that the 360 is just barely able to run it, I think the engine behind Halo 4 could do even better on the next-gen Xbox, I’m sure 343i had to downscale.
