hey all, just looking for a general idea of players mindsets on something that happened to me.
So, I was doing some matchmaking firefight tonight and in 1 game i had pulled a warthog req and was using it to clear support mobs around hunter bosses. so its all going well im not in anyones way when some guy comes up jumps into my hog, drives it up in front of the bosses then gets out and runs off. I quickly get into the driver seat and move before i am killed and my req is destroyed. I return to where i was and resume engaging targets when the same player comes up gets into the driver seat again and again drives me in front of the bosses, this time in a more awkward spot (it was stormbreak map the 4 red hunters in the end base). As usual he gets out and runs away. I again manage to get my vehicle off the ledge he got it stuck on and moved away. The same guy did it a 3rd time and this time i just gave up and abandoned my vehicle to him - he was killed pretty quickly and achieved no kills with it. In the end the round failed i was the only person killing the uber elites that was 1 shotting players but thats not even the point.
I blocked him and submitted a “bad sportsmanship” complaint on the guy. I feel i was right to do so as he knew what he was doing and the repeated actions suggests his goal was to kill me and destroy my req. Do you all think i was wrong?
as for 343, maybe you guys could give me a toggle to make my vehicles only open to friends and not random players. I’d toggle that off if im driving a tank because a support gunner is amazing. But on the rare cases i pull a hog its to play as “support turret” and not just to be victim to bored people with nothing else to do!
Yes there have been some requests to flag a vehicle so no one can enter it.
Many times in WZFF/WZ/WZA myself or my friends would have a hog or two set up as sentry weapons (i.e long range) in great spots as support. Nothing worse than a random jumping in and driving off and killing us and the req. Same applies to when gungoose-grenade spamming.
Met a bad apple, sadly aint nothing you can do about it but report the person for their unsportsmanlike behavior, which you were within your rights to do. Feel your pain when it comes to useless teammates and warthogs but thats been a problem with Halo since its inception, toggle system might get complicated but maybe they can come up with something in the next game. Dont take what happened personally, sometimes you can match up with supportive players too. I became friends with a random bro once playing Warzone, he loved driving ONI Hogs and I loved shooting, since then we been playing together. Keep your head up, dont let this get you down, and good hunting bro!
I feel your pain. On the same map with the knights in top of the armory I parked a rocket hog by the back tunnel and was killing enemies when a player jumped in and drove towards them, but instead of jumping out they just jumped the vehicle over the edge too kill us both. The player tried stealing my vehicles and getting me killed the whole match. Bright side they died frequently trying this where I survived.
They were also attempting to get me to splatter them which is frustrating.
thanks for the replies, oddly though this has only been a thing for me since the heroic version of FF was released. I usually stick to that cause i guess im not really a fan of the ultra vehicle heavy gameplay of legendary and up. This is of course in spite of me pushing into the 80+ spartan ranks prior to heroic mode. I had another game a couple weeks back where a guy jumped into my oni hog drove in front of incineration cannon knight bosses and just suicided us both.
Funny after the game which i was speaking about in my OP i did do 1 on apex 7 where it was the early match 2x banshee bosses and again i pulled a hog and was sitting far back burning down thier shields/hp bars and one time, just once a guy got in drove me under the bosses then he got out. I again managed to safely exit the danger area. mercifully that guy didnt do it anymore, i guess he saw what i was doing cause a short time later he pulled up next to me in his own hog

I’ve always wanted a toggle for vehicle passengers.
“team mates” can be royal “fill in space”…
i once had a nornfang in fiesta and i kept getting spartan charged by my “team mate” i eventually died. so that was insanely infuriating.
I rarely use Warthogs cause teammates are horrible drivers. There needs to be an option where you can lock down your Warthog, I wanna be able to use the turret without teammates tryna drive ma hog, ya know?
There’s where you went wrong you played firefight.
But seriously the sportsmanship in this new halo community is God awful comapred to the old one maybe it’s the competeive in the game that’s bringing out people’s bad side?
I think we should start doing good things at the end of games. Like saying GG to the enemy team or if you find a noob take him under your wing for a bit. It’s what I’ve been doing and I’m enjoying my experience a whole lot more
I’ve had a few bad experiences as well with people purposely driving warthogs in horrible manners, standing in front me while I’m shooting, etc. Block, report, move on.
Had a guy on firefight hump in my hog and head for a cliff. I knew what he was doing so I bailed as soon as he reached the cliff. Then I got another hog and minutes later he grabbed it and drove off the cliff again.
So then I kept an eye on him and he comes out with a hog and another guy jumps in the gunner seat. They do some killing. Then he pulls up next to me honking the horn so I get in the passenger side. And he drives it off a cliff and again I bail, but the gunner doesn’t.
I’ve been betrayed for REQs before in regular WZ. I remember playing on Apex 7 and calling in a Vorpal Talon only for a teammate to spatter me, jump out, grab it, and take off. I agree, the community has turned into a toxic cesspool of constant complaining and entitlement. I still love Halo, and probably always will, but the community sometimes pisses me off.
Honestly if I see someone coming, I drive away as fast as possible. Generally they’ll keep chasing and won’t get the hint, and that’s where I damage their shields.
Then at the end of the game, I’d find out that it’s a person who barely contributed in the match.
OP, I’d say that was a pretty good decision. He was definitely being a bad sport and I admire the fact that you didn’t hate mail him or spam. By the second time, I personally would’ve just ran him over next time he got closer.
