A proposed change to Bosses and how they award VP.

One thing I don’t like about the mechanics behind boss kills and how VP is rewarded from it:

I can’t tell you the amount of times I was on a team that did 99% damage to warden eternal or other bosses only to have the enemy score the last hit with a friggin loadout weapon or something and get the whole 150 VP.

I propose a system where the points bosses give work two different ways:The first way is cumulative damage to the boss, so say the boss has 150 VP it can give, and that pool will be divided out to the teams based on % damage done. I.E. A team that did 60% damage to warden eternal gains 90 VPs and the team that did the remaining 40% gains 60 VP.Then afterwards, the team that gets the killing blow on the boss gains an additional 25 VP.This system would work under all circumstances and in the event of both teams being able to reach 1000 VP with the Warden fight, the team with the highest total VP will be declared the winner, like 1025 VP versus 1060 VP.

This would make games MUCH more competitive I feel and erase the very BS feeling of being duped out of a kill when you went HAM on a boss, only to have it and full credit go to a random BR burst.

If you think there’s a better way that this system can work or if you think it’s fine as is let me know, I want to see if we can find a better way for this mechanic to work.

Lots of people are proposing this and I agree. It’s annoying to out-slay the enemy team all game and still lose because they’re experts at having some random guy charge in and get the last shot on all the bosses.

Hopefully 343i takes note that this mechanic is rather frustrating.

I agree. It’s my only complaint with warzone

I’ve noticed this as well after beasting the one in the Banshee, only to have it stolen because I died at like 5% health left. What you propose sounds good and makes a lot of sense!

Slightly off-topic, does anyone know what the criteria is for getting credited with a boss takedown assist? Sometimes I’ll unload multiple magazines into a boss but get the “Teammates eliminated boss” message and I don’t get credit for helping out.

I beyond pray they put this system in. As it stands, I just plain don’t like playing Warzone, and spend most my time on Warzone Assault as a result.

I’m not sure how 343 will change this but it does need addressing, so many times my team have got a boss down to a slither of health only to have some random kill it… It’s annoying and unfair.

I agree with your proposed mechanic to be a lot better than the current one. Maybe the percantages should change (100 VP divided by damage, 50 VP for finishing shot).

The current system really promotes kill stealing and just going for the last strike. For example i have done it multiple times on “Apex 7” fighting the phaeton. I’ll get me a sniper rifle, hide around the beach behind some bushes and fire 2 bullets into the phaeton when its almost down. I know this is cheap but if you want to win at warzone it sometimes has to be done.

Pls change this so i dont have to use this cheap tactic and that i dont have to be ashamed of myself any more. :slight_smile:
