First of all I want to point out that I agree that the current “team win” system of CSR has many (MANY) benefits over the old individual 1-50 rankings.
Secondly I want to point out that for me individually, matchmaking is working pretty well.
I’ve got a K/D of 1.0 and an overall win rate of 50%… so you could say that matchmaking has pretty much nailed it perfectly for me (and I would say that 90%+ games have been very enjoyable).
Anyway, I am currently ranked as mid-Silver.
But I have noticed that some players can be swept into divisions “above their station” if they play their ranking games in better teams.
I have a social group that gets together once a week… and one of our guys, who is the clear definition of the proverbial damage sponge (and proud of it!), finally got his ten ranking games in arena… but because he played those ranking games solely with our Tuesday night group (silvers and a couple of higher division players) - he has been placed as Gold.
Which in itself was a source of great hilarity at the time…
But now my fire-team is carrying a “Gold” player who I assume is attracting gold ranked opponents… but is consistently scoring like 3 and 20.
We definitely noticed that the teams we played against shortly after his ranking were tougher.
And under the current system… no matter how badly he continues to play… he can’t move down to a lower division!
If we start getting thrashed in every game it will be harder to keep the likes of him interested in joining us each week.
I have now been keeping an eye on the ranking of my opponents and team-mates… and there are a fair few people who are ranked higher than me who are definitely not a higher division (or two) better than I am. I assume they probably similarly climbed up on their team’s coat-tails. Not that I care what your division or K/D etc is per se… I’m just a little concerned that the current system may not work for our situation where a relatively dispersed skill group of players like to fire-team together.
1-50 was team based, and superior system that never failed to do it’s intended job very well. The current system is garbage, and how anyone cannot get that through their heads by now is beyond me. Your Halo 5 game has about 20,000-25,000 players at any given time. Halo 3 had that many players playing over a full year into Reach (many presumably had returned from Reach), and Reach had that many players online over a year into Halo 4 (many presumably returning from 4). WHEN WILL YOU OPEN YOUR EYES?
You think K/D farming is bad now?.. it has nothing on 1-50.
I like the current system… it just needs some tweaking around the edges. I know that it wouldn’t happen if my mate played his ‘ranking’ games solo… but he pretty much only plays on Halo night with us. There needs to be some sort of compensation when someone is definitely playing in a division “out of their depth”.

I actually like the old 1-50 ranking at least “most of the time” that rank actually meant something
I think they should let people derank through different tiers, but I just dont see that happening.
I am having an issue lately where I am getting paired up with nothing but unranked/bronze/silver people. In the beginning I was getting paired with people of similar skill, now I some games im stuck with people unranked on my team and I dont understand why.
The real question is how can you lose to gold players? lol. Im in diamond in most of my playlists but there is one thing i can agree on. People who are terrible are placed in higher ranks and now the real players have to deal with a crappy team.
For me, I either consistently get matched up with much worse players or consistently get matched up with much better players, depending on the playlist. The disparity of skill-matching is much worse than any other ranked Halo experience. This ranking system is so bad lol, particularly the initial placement system that takes K/D and other stats that skew the process into account.
Wins and losses are the only stat that matters in determining how good one is, and teams should never match against single players, which currently happens as well. Even sets of two should only match sets of two.
Halo 3 got everything right. I’m not sure why 343 can’t see that.

I don’t know why it’s so hard I mean of course wins mean something but what about those people that go 18-5? Does that not matter?

Never thought of that. It’s a problem I agree. Maybe you guys should play a social playlist instead or something.
