A PROBLEM I SEE WITH THE COMMUNITY

To the community,

This is a message to all halo fans. In 76 days, halo will at last drop in our hands and halo fans will be full of joy. In 76 days, Halo will send a shockwave through out the world with its pure epicness. In 76 days, Halo will send a hard blow to all the other games’ crotches. In 76 days, Halo fans around the world will ignore all external stimuli in their life and be going through hours of awesome content. However there is a problem.

That problem is the community.

The Halo community may not be as bad as other communities such as cod, however that is no excuse to act the way some do. We should be better than this. As of right now the community is divided into two groups: those who are strong supporters of 343 and halo and, those who are not so happy with the way things have gone so far under 343.

The problem in the community isn’t with one side, its with both sides. It all boils down to the fact that fans cannot respect the other sides opinions. If you think halo 4 is going to suck, well that’s your opinion there is no guarantee that you will be right. That goes for people who think halo 4 will be great as well. However, instead of bashing the guy who thinks the game will suck or the guy who thinks it will be awesome, learn to respect their opinion. PLEASE NOTE, this does not mean you can’t have a friendly debate, just make sure you keep it classy. Now I want to address each group separately.

To the 343/halo4 supporters:

I am excited for the game also and I’m sure 343 appreciates the support. However, we shouldn’t blindly accept everything (I am not saying that all supporters are fan boys thank you to weird stealth for pointing that out to me) that is implemented in the game because there are some things that are disconcerting. Also, just because a fan may disagree with something 343 has done does not make him a hater and that doesn’t mean he wants the game to fail. In fact most of the complainers care a lot about the game and they want halo to do well. Another point, stop using the change/adapt argument its getting old. For some who are so used to the feel of halo 1-3 change is not only difficult for them but its change they don’t want, so you should respect that, and not change who they are. Don’t always say that the objectors just want halo 2.5 because it is possible that they are open to change just not the change made already. Lastly, I expect halo 4 to be great however, everyone should be open to the possibility that it won’t meet our expectations.

To the not so happy:

I understand your concern but you need to be open minded because who knows, you might end up liking the game. The first important thing you should know is that 343 cares about the game more than anyone else and they’ve poured blood, sweat, and tears into it. Don’t treat 343 as if they don’t care and haven’t put any effort as all. Secondly, enough with the cod references. There may be some concepts taken from cod however the game as a whole has not changed into cod. Reach may have been a bad game however you cant just say: oh armor abilities will suck because they did in reach. Now I’m not saying armor abilities will work, I’m just saying that you have to be open to the possibility that the armor abilities and other concepts in reach themselves aren’t the problem but the way they are implemented are. Lastly, be open to the possibility that halo 4 will be a great game.

Halo 4, I hope it will be great but i also hope that the community can improve its behavior. We are the community of one of the greatest if not the greatest franchise out their and our behavior should reflect our awesome franchise.

Well that is all, I will see you Nov. 6!

thank you for comming in here and telling everyone to calm down, AA’s didn’t get implemented that well in reach but it was their’e first try. heck im not happy with the elites being unplayable but I like everything else.

It is part of human nature to disagree and try to prove you’re better than others. I still, agree, however, that we as a community could learn to calm down and respect all the opinions out there. Unfortunately, I don’t see that happening any time soon.

Ever been on Bungie.net during the reach era? Trolls gallore. Actually bet if you went there now it would still be trolls.

Good people turned into trolls from the hate for Reach.

I don’t think we need to worry, when the people complaining don’t buy Halo 4 because of it’s differences they won’t really be part of the community anymore.

Halo 4 is definitely taking some risks, and so did Reach and look what happened. I’m not a hater, I’m just worried of the same reaction happening in Halo 4.

Yeah I don’t see anyone respecting opinions anytime soon mainly because people tend to be arrogant and have a hard time admitting the possibility they might be wrong.

its always been pretty bad whenever a new halo game comes along but at reach it was awful. It seems that when ever a halo title is released the fans complain that the previous one was way better.

> However, we shouldn’t blindly accept everything that is implemented in the game because there are some things that are disconcerting.

Ok, I love what you said in your post! All but this part, which kind of rubs me the wrong way, I’ve been accused of being a blind 343i fanboy, and not a lot of people realize that that is not the case with me, nor is it with any one else. Yes, there are some of us who act like we are, but in reality, we have our own little issues with things here and there, but we don’t talk about them because we either understand the reason, or don’t think the issue isn’t that big of a deal.

The Halo community is a lot different, I say that with the move from Bungie.net to Halo.xbox.com.

i remember how things use to be back on the Bnet before the drop of reach when everybody was tryna get the vidmasters those were the days

Yeah I should have worded that differently. I too have been called a fan boy whenever i support something. I was not saying this is the case with everyone but there seems to be a small percentage of the supporters who seem to be constantly praising the game. I will edit that part.

I hope we can see some form of those days return in h4 :’(

I think it will be fairly safe to aaynthe H4 will be better than Reach. Reach failed on many many levels.

I think there is a chance of going back to the good ole days but it all depends on the success of h4.

I agree, however, a thread won’t change that. It is the human nature. But as long as you have some good friends to play with, I think you wouldn’t even notice the worse part of the community that much. And the forums, well, just ignore the pointless complaints. There are also nice people here and it is very interesting to talk to them.

idk the overall attitude of the community has changed i remember back in halo 3 i couldnt go two games with out being invited to custom for some tomfoolery in reach never happens

Yeah there are good folk on these forums also :). I know a thread won’t change anything but i just wanted to bring up the issue.

to the OP, we need more people like you on here.
