> Sir, my Signal Intelligence team just intercepted a highly unusual transmission with, seemingly, very sensitive information regarding insurrection operations. We have some data on the Crimson Corp Rebellion, or C.C.R., (See attached) but have yet to confirm any chain of command or organizational structure. However, if this message is to be believed, it appears that a Spartan II by the name of Eric Mims (See attached) is not only alive but assuming a leadership role amongst the CCR ranks. They appear to be using code names and phrases to mask their communications, which is unusually sophisticated for an insurrection. We were unable to triangulate the origin of the transmission, but received a solid direction. Based on the strength of the signal, we assess that the transmission originated in the asteroid belt at these coordinates (hide) in the Baradus System. Be advised that there are several mining guilds active in this sector as well as an inhabitable planet, Athea 5, that is responsible for over 75% of the systems agriculture (See attached).

> The AI, Saraphina, is not registered in any UNSC or ONI database that I have access to. It is likely that it’s name and appearance have been changed for security purposes. It is marginally possible, however, that the CCR has the ability to craft their own AI’s, this will require further research and analysis.
>
> Sir, I don’t have to tell you that this is troubling. My team and I advise that this transmission be investigated. Proper protocol and safeguards should be established, in the event this is some sort of trap, but should be verified nonetheless. My team will put together an intelligence briefing for you in the event your chain of command wishes to act on this. Of course, we will continue to monitor and analyze this intel. Following this message is the exact cut of traffic we received.

> - Personal log (expanded)//He spoke to me today. They both did. Maybe it won’t be so lonely anymore. My own system diagnostic came back: AMBER. I need maintenance, my cognitive processes are beginning to wane. I’m scared. I don’t want to forget. I don’t want to die. What happens to me when my own mind fragments? Where will I go? I wish there was someone to talk to. I miss seeing them. He always made me feel better, although he didn’t talk much. Maybe they’ll have a place for me this time. But who will monitor the system? No. They need me here. But I’m sad here. I’m scared here.//

Greetings everyone! I just wanted to search the pool for people who were interested in Role-playing. I typically enjoy the community and the creative writing.
For experienced role players, I’m also looking for one or two partners to help me moderate this session, as we will be the antagonists and be required to effectively portray player actions and their effects in-game. PM me if you’re interested in this role.

A couple rules:
(1)Your character can be any UNSC or Sangheili Crew member that will operate in support of this mission. You can play as an officer in the Bridge Staff as long as it is not Captain Lasky, Commander Palmer, or Roland.

(2) Be, somewhat, grammatically competent.

(3) At minimum, post a paragraph.

(4) You will need to complete the character sheet on the next post

(5) Your unit will be designated for you after we get a count of how many people will be participating.

(6) PM me with any questions!

Keep in mind that the Spartans within the Spartan Branch only have the rank of “Spartan”, or “Spartan Fireteam Leader”, which is more of a designated position than a full on rank. Also, keep in mind your rank in comparison to those in your team. There really shouldn’t be a Marine Fireteam or squad made up of nothing but Lieutenants.)

Eric eyed his heads up display, waiting for his powered assault armor’s shields to come online.
“You know,” Kayla said, breaking the silence. “If we didn’t have to bypass every licensing lock the UNSC has established, our monthly maintenance might not be such a nightmare. And can you hold still please?”
The subtle pops and clicks that came from his suits internal power storage caused Eric to shift uneasily. “Well,” Eric replied. “That’s why we have you.” The quiet hum of energized particles surrounded Eric as his armor attempted to shield itself. The shield appeared, but it was collapsing on itself. His heads up display blared a warning, telling him that his shields were dangerously low. “It’s not recharging.” Eric said.
“Ugh.” Kayla replied as she opened him back up. “So, did you see the message Saraphina sent out to the section leaders?”
“Yes.” Eric replied.
“We’re not the only ones needing maintenance, Eric.” Kayla stated, with a hint of resentment. “She’s been actively keeping our operations quiet for years now, we should do something to help her.”
Eric didn’t respond. He needed to be strong and reasonable. Saraphina was an A.I., built to serve a specific purpose for humanity. Any type of maintenance would require an obscene amount of expensive bribes, risky exposure, and shady coordination with untrustworthy individuals. And for what? To slightly delay the inevitable end that all A.I.'s must face. Rampancy was without cure, there was nothing they could do to stop it.
Kayla sighed. "You know, going out of your way to help someone, even if it defies logic, doesn’t show weakness. She said, as if reading his mind.
“Yes.” Eric replied. "For someone." Eric turned to look at Kayla, then, once he felt like his point had been made, he turned his gaze back to the wall in front of him. He felt Kayla’s eyes glaring into the back of his head. She continued her work on his suit with more force and sharp movements. After a few minutes, Eric noticed the silhouette of his armor on his H.U.D. turn all-green, indicating his suit was properly sealed again. The hum of his armors energy shields returned and increased in pitch until his meter read fully charged.
Kayla used his back to push herself to her feet and turned to exit the room. “You’re a real -Yoink- sometimes.” She stated before shutting the door behind her.
Eric remained seated and stared upon the wall in front of him a moment longer. The risk and cost for Saraphina’s maintenance was far greater than any potential pay-off it would deliver. Eric knew that Kayla understood that, but her heart always seemed to come at odds with her logic. At times, Kayla’s conscience was an asset and was, arguably the reason they were able to organize such an effective resistance. She was good with people and building relationships. Her passion in defying the UNSC and ONI was very attractive to most in the outer colonies. But for this?
Eric stood, strode to his weapons locker, and began a functions check for every firearm he owned. Kayla would see reason soon enough. Saraphina had been a valuable asset but, like him, the A.I. would have to come to terms with it’s inevitable end. Eric had come to terms with his end. What they have done, and what they were about to do, to defy the government was not going to end well for him. He understood that, and was prepared to sacrifice all to make a change. Every man and woman under his charge was also prepared.
