A possible solution for those complaining about...

… tryhards. While I understand the frustration of getting your -yoink- -yoinked-, to say that the ‘tryhards’ are ruining Halo is just not true. Video games, especially shooters, are inherently competitive, and people will try to win. I’m an average player anymore, and play by myself a lot in Arena or WZ because often I only have time for 1 or 2 games, and can’t afford to sit in a LFG lobby and wait for a full team. So I get stomped and “farmed” every now and then, but I understand it’s just the nature of the game. If I could do it, I would. We all would. But I enjoy the competitiveness of Arena and WZ, so that’s what I play.

The people who complain about the “sweaty tryhards,” who say they just want a casual gaming experience, without feeling like they’re constantly getting stomped, need a place for themselves. Warzone and Social playlists are still competitive. So the only remaining place is Custom games. The environment in Customs is all about just getting together with some people and having fun.

The problem with that is, the people who are complaining are getting beat because they’re mostly playing alone. And to play custom games, you need friends that have the maps and games. So a possible solution would be some sort of game lobby where people can create custom games and post them for other random people, who aren’t your friends, to join. It seems to me that this would be the perfect place for people who just want to -yoink- around and have some fun.

Now I’m not sure how practical or technologically feasible this would be, or if there’d be enough interest for 343 to look into implementing this. But I think this would be a great solution for the truly ‘casual’ Halo player.
