Basically, when searching for a game on Matchmaking, if you are having a hard time finding players it will say “A game of this type is in progress, would you like to join (Press A to Join, B to Ignore, X to View The Scores Of The Game)” That way JIP is still an option, its just not forced.
Hmm. Not bad.
I think this need to be forced
Good idea, I sometimes end up joining games in progress that are early over, which is annoying at best, so time left should also be added to that list.
This is actually a great idea. I still wish they would make ranked and social separation with rank not allowing JiP and severely punishing quitters, but this is a great way to solve JiP’s main issue of putting you in hopeless scenarios/games that are basically over.
NO, bad idea! Do none you remember what Join In Progress did to Halo 4? I mean, Black Screen 4?
Unless they found a way to keep the game running smooth while that happens, I say NO JiP.
If JIP is not in this game, I will not be around very long. There is nothing worse than starting a game, only to have team mates quickly quit out.
This is a decent idea that gives players the option of whether or not they want to fall into a losing team. Better yet, there should be something tied to the ranking system for games where you join a game in progress and depending on the score when you join, it doesn’t punish you for losing.

The black screen was when the host of the game left, not when someone joins the game. This doesn’t happen in dedicated servers.
We need to think about the people already playing the game. So the people finding a match get a choice, but the people on the receiving end would be forced to accept new players? What if they dont want them? I don’t like that idea at all.
Think of this: You start a ranked slayer game and someone on your team quits. You are playing with a couple buddies who are pretty good so at this point you actually have an advantage since they essentially have less players to kill. Then some scrub joins via JIP and goes 3 and 14.
-Yoink- that.
Better solution:
JIP on for social, OFF for ranked.

Would be perfect!
This could work I like the idea.

and this rectifies the problem. It allows you to select whether you JiP or not so you don’t get shafted on getting put in crappy, one-sided games. The only issue is that it wouldn’t necessarily fix the quit problem unless they actually made the ranking system work well and then implemented a MOBA system where if you quit you can only rejoin the match you left.
