So before I begin I just want to state that this is just my opinion and what I think would formulate a perfect playing experience that provides endless hours of entertainment. I’ll try my best to provide reasoning and facts already said to be confirmed. So let’s begin…
Story: I don’t want to list a lot here, just minor things.
- So with the story more than anything I want to see that ol’ Halo dialogue (“Demon!”,“Step away from the lightbulb”,“Have noo fear, I’ll cover the rear”,etc.)
- Credits/xp that’ll ‘actually’ be worth the replayability (Towards your ‘Rank’)
Multiplayer: A blend between Halo 3,Halo 5:Gaurdians, Halo:Reach (Guardian, Swordbase, Powerhouse, Vahalla)
- So for Halo 5’s maps I wasn’t a big fan, most of them had too many closed spaces, hardly any LOS, akward amounts of floors, etc. Lets say HI has both Classic/Modern(Sprint) playstyles in 2 forms of main multiplayer playlist that branch out into their own individual playlist(slayer, obj, btb, etc). If you’re following still I think the Classic maps should be catered to the developer made while the Modern maps have less Developer made, more forged.
- Though it’s been confirmed to have a Reach style customization, I want to ask will we see the return of armor effects, Haunted Helmet, Halo 3 style Recon? Let’s say to get the Haunted Helmet you have to get max rank in HI or have reached Inheritor in Halo Reach, and with the armor effects, why not do it like Reach did and if you don’t like armor effects don’t equip it, some people do. Adding features is nice but don’t take it away appreciated ones!
- Just want to keep this one short, please make HI multiplayer addictively replayable.
- The Battle Rifle: From once what was a ‘trusty ol’ reliable’ became a laughing stock as the marshmallow shooter we now know it for today, please 343i do not make the HI battle rifle anything like H5’s.
- Would love to see what a Halo 3 and Halo 5 fusion would look like
- Spartan/Elite Death sound effects that resembles H3’s; It’s hilarious and enjoyable to hear.
Extra Game Modes/playlist: Most of these are expected, just please be at launch
- Forge: if we could get Halo 5’s forge with some sort of AI that would be AMAZING!!
- Firefight: If it’s in HI please make it challenging like H3:ODST, also Flood in FF would be ‘Infinitely’ replayable.
- Theatre that works (I’m sure it’s not easy by any means)
- Custom Browser
For the multiplayer, having 2 separate play styles would only segment the community further and cause more harm them good, not the mention all the work that would go into making 2 almost completely different multiplayer experiences. They would have to make maps and weapons that would cater to either classic or enhanced. They would also have the community so divided that they’re only playing half your game. They either need to commit to one side or try to blend the two styles together. I personally hope they go back to the classic gameplay, the modern gameplay was their attempt at following the enhanced mobility trend that died off. Halo needs to be unique again by going back to what made it great in the first place.
Besides that though i agree with all the points you make.

Don’t get me wrong I agree with you too, just not sure what their approach will be. But yeah, would love no sprint/spartan abilities.

Yeah I don’t envy the position 343 is in when i comes to gameplay. I hope 343 goes back to the classic gameplay but who knows what they’ll do.

So cater again to only the players who like enhanced mobility which is a big part of why the player count is so low
Agree about the BR. One of the reasons I stopped playing H5.
I wouldn’t want the game to have two playstyles though with their own maps/weapons/everything. At that point you’re basically making two games so I don’t see the point in having it in one package, it’ll just double the development time.
i guess i’m a mobility person. i love the ability to sprint. playing MCC on console and playing the older titles where I couldn’t sprint drove me absolutely nuts. this is PURELY opinion. i just don’t like moving at the same speed when there’s an objective to reach, and nothing between me and that objective. sprinting just makes me feel like i’m saving time. not having sprint would make me feel as frustrated as an open world game like Red Dead that didn’t have fast travel. i cringe thinking of that ha!
if we can create game modes with certain weapon subsets, or shield settings, then surely 343i could create a game mode with no sprinting (or custom modes). perhaps that could work to satisfy people? i really adored h5’s gameplay. i wasn’t the best player there was, but i liked it. i don’t think h5’s player counts are down because of high mobility gameplay, i just think it’s down because newer stuff has launched. i mean heck, the once mighty COD suffers due to the success of all these battle royale variants. just seems like h5’s player counts have just succumbed to the effects of time.

Man, don’t get me started on the H5 BR. I heard “rumors” that 343i wants to make the HI BR like H5’s… hopefully not.

Oh God don’t even say that. The worst part is if they just reverted it back to it’s original state it’d be fine, no one would complain. It was a little too good, yes, but it’s so easy to nerf it to fill the role of what they wanted, instead they went overboard.

H5 would be relevant if the BR was like day one. You said it perfectly.
Flood firefight on the two following maps from Halo 2 Campaign:
Sacred Icon and Quarantine zone
The player will have to survive the following waves:
Easy > Flood infections forms and Flood combat forms
Normal > Flood carrier form introduced
Heroic > Infected elites equpied with energy sword and infected human with rocket launcher introduced
Legendary > The reanimated flood corpses are now harder to kill, the infected elites are now half the time equiped with a shield
> The Battle Rifle: From once what was a ‘trusty ol’ reliable’ became a laughing stock as the marshmallow shooter we now know it for today, please 343i do not make the HI battle rifle anything like H5’s.

I agree that the BR should be better than how it is in halo 5, but it shouldn’t be so strong that it makes the other precision weapons including the pistol redundant. Halo 2 and 3 have this same issue where there is no reason to pick up a carbine over the br, and the pistols in both games are so useless compared to the other two precision weapons that they might as well not be in the games. HI should not be like this.

You had me at Sacred Icon and Quarantine zone.

I see how it could be difficult to balance, but now the magnum wins 95% of CQC Br vs Mag even at questionable distances. I honestly thought carbine in H3 was on par w/ Br, I might have to revisit H3 soon. Want to add, I don’t think the Mag needs any change, I actually love it.
Campaign~ open world style with story progression the key to unlocking more and different areas of the ring. Boss battles please. Secret areas for exploration and armour/weapon powerups, lore/skulls. Upgradeable bases for resupply and defense. Possibly allies bases. Campaign scoring. Large covenant presence. flood areas. some Promethean areas. New enemies. Under suit only option… kind of a swat scenario. Beefy sounding weapons that feel like they do damage. No skill tree or leveling up for campaign. Master chief is who he is. Campaign scoring for sure. Scoring makes campaign a lot of fun. Of course total playground after completion.
All these features can either be ignored or turned off for people who don’t like the changes.
Multiplayer~halo 3 style skill based ranking. Social can have that score based ranking. No microtransactions… put that stuff in the campaign. no armor abilities. No battle royale but possibly a very big team playlist in which you can customize your player and select any weapons loadout in the name of fun. Or a persistent world you can pop into with your gear mess around and pop out. Theres no win or lose, just online playground. Armour and weapon customization should be based off of specific in game challenges and achievements so people know what it took to EARN it. Firefight, war zone, those are actually fun and raise replayability when your looking to have a more relaxed session.
Theater is a must. If possible a montage feature.
Forge with basic and advanced accessibility. Some people are bad -Yoink- with forge.
File share was cool too.
Any way I’m excited for new halo. When Halo combat Evolved came out it literally did evolve gaming. Now it’s time for the franchise to evolve and be great again.
