Yes, 343i have made mistakes with this game; glitches, disabled critical systems such as the file browser, anti-competitive elements, you name it. Everyone wonders: “Why is it taking so long to do this stuff?” or “Why are they making this game more casual friendly?” or “Why did they remove these settings?”
I am with you all when you are disappointed. But we have to remember that this is their first game. 'Halo" is a HUGE title. When i say HUGE, I mean HUUUGEE. They formed a studio out of nothing and spent years planning and making this game, all because they wanted to continue this epic universe’s legacy. Had they not done this, Halo would have died. Yes, they made mistakes. Yes, they are taking time to make amends. Yes, they do not respond sometimes. We just need to have some patience. Wait for them to absolutely fix Halo 4. This is game is, more or less, a beta for the future Halo games to come. Continue to criticize, comment, ask and inform. But please, do NOT lose hope. They need us to continue this legacy. Don’t abandon this game. Don’t give up on it.
Just hold on a little longer. I have faith that sooner or later our voices will be heard and they will do everything they can to satisfy our requests.
Im not sure if its their first game as in first game where its them in charge. I do agree with you they screwed up but come on were the Halo community we dont sit around whineing little the little 10 year olds the get beat in COD we freaking use what we have and make the best with what we got We innovate we are the rightful owners of the Mantle for game dominance and our past footstole is in our space and were just sitting here takeing it and agreeing with them. ARE WE GOING TO TAKE THIS ???
This games population is proof halo is dying , if they had such a huge time why did they eff it up so bad and give us no beta which would vastly have improve the game. My hope is minimal of halo 5 to be honest
Yeah, tell that to the community. I agree with you but the community won’t wait. The good thing though is that the haters have to be less than 5 percent of the pop. so good thing.
> They formed a studio out of nothing and spent years planning and making this game, all because they wanted to continue this epic universe’s legacy. Had they not done this, Halo would have died.
In some ways I sort of wish Halo had died. Some of the things they have done with the story and lore make me cringe.

If only Halo tracker showed how many individual people played daily instead of how many people were playing at a certain time. It’s like If you had invented some amazing game or something like angry birds that cought the world by storm and have millions of people playing and then the haters arise and start saying the game sucks because there was about 50,000 people playing at a certain point in time instead of how many individual people played the entire day. Even better think of it like this imagine you run a top class resteraunt that has almost a thousand people eating there daily but some statistics guy decides to judge how many people actully eat there throughout the day but instead of tracking it in such a way he just takes the highest amount of people in the room hourly and uses the highest amount as what the stores maximum amount of people served per day is. Bsaically its not true and it dosent really represent how many people you feed on a daily basis. It’s like if your a millionare but your being judged on how many dollars you have in your pocket when you carry less since your current status puts you in danger.

It isn’t too late, though. 343i are already trying. Because it was their first game and there was a deadline, they rushed a lot of stuff. Now they are fixing bugs, exploits and glitches. Once they are done (most probably by the end of February), they will do all that they can and I am very sure of it. They are making a competitive playlist for us. They added the Grifball playlist (which I absolutely adore, by the way! :D) and will soon add the Double Team playlist. They told us they will try to keep these two permanent to help us relax. Bs angel replied to the creator of the custom games thread and said that they will fix things soon. They cannot give a date, simply because if they can’t do it then, people will be disappointed. If they do things quickly, things will be rushed AGAIN and everyone will start saying Halo 4 is broken…
Again, to everyone. We need to be patient. I know what you will all ask now: “Why do we have to wait in the first place?” Well, the answer is because that’s the only way we’ve got. If you want to stop playing and supporting this game, fine. But know that you’re giving up on something you’ve loved (I’m sure that most of us love this franchise) and aren’t even trying to join your voice with everyone else’s to at least bring this franchise back on its feet. Saying that you’re selling the game or saying that you hate it is not constructive. If you want to be constructive, you can always comment on things politely and in a respective manner. Insults and Caps won’t draw 343i’s attention.
I love that Reach has a beta, one game, and suddenly people are expecting betas.
It would have been good yes, but I’m guessing it was something that would have been very hard to do with time constraints.
They had plenty of time.
They have plenty of experience.
They have more money available to them than most large developers have dreamed of having.
They didn’t have the patience (or the stones to tell Microsoft to be more patient).
Your AAA game should not need a TU within the first month if you’ve done things right. It should get major updates to fix issues that pop up in a finished product, not to patch up an unfinished one.
Your AAA game does not need a DLC within the first month, period. DLC is not some secret innuendo for “BREASTFEED YOUR PREMATURE GAME OR ELSE IT WILL DIE!”.
In this day and age, with all of the amazing resources, people, and equipment these folks have available to them, there is no excuse to finish the game after release. Game updates should not be a crutch, because your game should be able to walk on its metaphorical legs from day one.
In this day and age, with the towering standards set by the consumers (in most cases), you have no excuse to try and sell several pieces of additional content without first gathering research and player input (at least a little!). 343, you are not Capcom, and we should all be grateful that you are not Capcom.
I have a little bit of hope left in me that they will, by some miracle, find a way to swallow their pride and give us some of the content that they decided to leave out.

While I agree with you in some aspects, what’s done is done. There is nothing we can do now but help with constructive criticism and wait.

Even with constructive criticism it took them months to actually reply to anybody. If they spent more time here then on Twitter or NeoGaf, then maybe things wouldn’t be so hectic.
But to those how say “ITS THE WORST MOMENT IN HALO HISTORY”. Lets be fair. It’s their first game. They didn’t even do a public beta. Halo 4 on launch day was a great game (in my opinion). But the response on updates needed to be faster I would admit.
Halo: Reach in my mind had A LOT worse times.
Remember ARMOUR LOCK?
Remember DMR BLOOM?
Remember SWORD BLOCKING??
Remember the painfully slow 2 flag games of Hemorrhage?
We had to wait a whole year for 343/Bungie to slowly fix these problems. I believe we are getting MUCH better treatment this time round.
My only exception is the file browser.
Reach was great in my opinion. But Halo 4 is also a lot better than Reach too in my opinion, and possibly up with the greatness of Halo 3 standards.

I never love one Halo game over another. Instead, I rate the games based on the thing it’s best at. For example, I think Halo: CE has the best campaign. For Halo 2, the thing it bests all others at is the storyline. Halo 3, the multiplayer. Halo Wars, the ultimate and most epic battles ever. Halo 3: ODST, best exploration spaces (loved how you could go all around New Mombassa) and introduced firefight. And Halo: Reach introduced a better Forge, a more customizable firefight experience and a lot of customization options. Each one is best in certain things, making them all equally loved by me. (Of course this is all my opinion.)
As for Halo 4, 343i got us to delve into the Forerunner story a lot more, introduced Forerunner weaponry and brought new, interesting enemies. (Something I’ve always wanted to see…) I think that this game will be amazing when 343i fix everything in the next couple of months.
Halo 4 is mostly fun to play but I expected much more from this game than I got, to be honest. I hope 343i will some day fix the major issues that are worsening the Halo 4 experience.
Halo 4 is good, but it has potential to be great.

I am curious Cobra, seeing as you are only one of four people who’s opinion I actually regard as being valid on these forums - is Spartan Ops episode 6/7 worth a look because so far I have just ignored the release, on the grounds that 343 has damaged the franchise beyond repair. Would you describe it as ‘good’ and worth playing?

Honestly, that’s not true. If they didn’t pick it up. Microsoft would of appointed some other group to form a company rather than Three Hundred and Forty-Three Industries. If Bungie didn’t sell the intellectual property rights of Halo to Microsoft, I’m sure some other company would of like to get a hit at it. I mean this would of been picked up by Sony as an opportunity to gain sales since they had a profit loss from 2008-2012.
The point is, there is always opportunities out there for a franchise as big as this.
