For those who complain about everyone using the Magnum, I understand your pain. I’ve made posts before complaining about the same thing. However, after some thought, it really isn’t anything new.
Every Halo game has had it’s Meta weapon. CE’s Magnum reigned supreme. Halo 2 and Halo 3, it was the BR. Halo: Reach it was the DMR. Halo 5 it’s the Magnum again. It’s a starter, longer range than the AR, precision weapon that rewards accurate shots and quick kills. Yes, it’s a little strange how the Magnum is far more used than some of the full Rifles. But that’s just the way it is I guess!
So keep this in mind for next time. If it wasn’t the Magnum it’d be the BR, or the DMR.
All I hear in CE is Magnums. Ok, maybe a few rocket and sniper shots too, but its like 95% Magnums.

I’d be happy with a mix of more BR starts and the occasional magnum only start, but it’s so frequent it’s getting ridiculous.

It’s the meta. It’s the only thing the pro players wanna use, it’s the single most well-rounded weapon in the game therefore it sits above every other gun. Same reason the BR was the single most used gun in Halo 2 and Halo 3

The halo 5 BR is absolute garbage tier. The halo 2 variant is a lazer…tbh, to try and tune the BR in the game to really do something worth picking it up for is an impossible task. Like it just doesn’t fit in the game at that point. You either nerf the magnum amd it becomes useless amd we have halo 3 garbage tier slayer starts where if you aren’t holding a BR you might as well quit the match you’ve already lost…or you go BR starts and repeat halo 2 and 3.
BR starts with a decent magnum or pistol…isn’t that bad of a concept. It looks like halo infinite may do this.
Again though…AR pistol/Magnum starts with the “nerfed” version of that precision weapon…with the BR,dmr, LR or carbine existing on the map completely breaks the sandbox. On one hand…the argument of… picking up weapons makes sense…but then…when all the weapons have been picked up and 1 team has them while the others have these crap tier slayer starts…with no weapons respawed…or even if they do…the other team just grabs the ammo…you have yourself a broken game. Hence…BR starts existing. Hence, magnum starts existing.

I would be perfectly happy with Halo 2 BR starts every game instead of pistol starts every game.

that weapons way too easy to use imo. It does feel great though but…it feels TOO great you get me? Lol like I do think it seems to have WAY too generous of an aim assist. The weapon statistics change weapon to weapon, and they have different degrees of aim assist. It’s 4SK on top of that as well.
I suppose more people are happy this way though. I can understand that. The games a sweat fest as it is.
I like the magnum I’m sure next title will give the dmr or br the utility slot back . It’s seems to be how halo rotates it from title to title now .

I know that. But Halo championships honestly pale in comparison to back in the Halo 2 and 3 MLG Pro Circuit days. ESPN even covered the big events and there was a weekly ESPN Top Ten MLG Halo moments highlight reel. It is not like it used to be.

Ah gotcha. I’ve been playing Halo since CE, I started playing when I was 4 but because I was so young I never really got into the community until Halo 3. I was old enough to actively play multiplayer but never really had interest in the esports and competitive side of things until Halo Reach, which is around the time that kind of stuff started to die out. Damn. Wish I could’ve seen it

It was Halo’s glory days man. Everyone who played the game knew of the big names, ogre1, ogre2, walshy, legit, man it was like your favourite ball players. These Halo legends, and Halo at the time in general, pioneered MLG and modern esports. Great stuff. The memories.
When I start mission I usually will pick up an energy sword when I kill an Elite and dump my Magnum.
