Is xbox live Gold required to play custom games using the browser (xbox one)?
I believe XBL Gold is required for all online interactions, so that would be a yes

Yes. Live is required to play.
I’m suprised it’s not required for campaign considering how games are nowadays.

Yes, the only thing you can play offline is the campaign.
