a new xbox and halo player

Hi people,

Recently I just bought the xbox 360 and i bought the halo anniversary as well. I’m just wondering, how can I play multiplayer? It seems I can’t find any other player and I always see that I must have my own party. How can I do play multiplayer here? Thanks in advance!

well you need to select halo reach multiplayer on the main menu and you can play reach MM with the anniversary maps. for coop anniversary campaign you need to invite someone.

To play Multiplayer:
Select the Halo Reach Anniversary Multiplayer option in the Main Menu. After a nice video, you are in the Reach’s menu. There you can play all the 7 maps of Anniversary. In Matchmaking you have 5 playlists and in them you can play them. In Custom Games and Forge you can explore the maps and play them, while in Firefight you have only one map: Installation 04.

In Reach’s Multiplayer, it’s different from the Halo Anniversary Campaign: More weapons, different HUD, Armor Abilities, etc.

To play Anniversary Co-op:
If you have a friend playing Anniversary, in the Campaign menu just invite your friend and you can play the Campaign together. You can only play it with 2 people, 4 people (like Reach’s campaign) is not available.

Any doubts? Send me a PM for help.

Its really good your starting with combat evolved by the way. (but for the best effect I’d start with reach and work your way up.)

Welcome to Halo!! Confetti

The posts above me are correct. You gotta go to Reach Multiplayer from the Anniversary disk, and from there you have a few options.
Matchmaking- must have Xbox Live Gold to do this. You can battle other players from around the world in 5 different playlists.
Custom Games- To actually play a game with enemies, you must invite some players to your party, play with 3 others on your console, or link a bunch of consoles.
Firefight- Battle endless waves of the Reach version Covenant. This is almost completely customizable, and can be fun if your bored.
Forge- Alter your maps in several different ways, adding things, deleting things, and moving things.

Co-Op, you need to change your connection to Local. Then any other controllers in the area will have the option to sign in, and you can go through the campaing together. You can do this over Live as well, just invite someone to your party.

If you are already in the reach multiplayer menu and still cannot play online multiplayer, you may have to press Y(select network) and make sure it is in the correct setting for xbox live.

Hi all,

Thank you very much for all the answers. I appreciate it a lot.

  1. Just to be clear, Halo Reach and Halo Anniversary are 2 different games right? Does the story and multiplayer differs? Because I know from the Halo Anniversary, I get the free Map for the Reach right?

  2. Is it worth it to buy the Halo Reach as well?

  3. I guess I will take a look at the Multiplayer again. It seems I can’t find all the people that is playing there.

  4. To play with other player, do I need to add them into my friends list or there is not a need to do that?

  5. I redeem the code on my Xbox account, and my brother have another account on the same console. Will he be able to play the additional maps from Halo Anniversary as well?

Thanks once again, appreciate it a lot. Halo confuse me, there are so many versions of it.

Which Halo games should I buy more? Thanks once again.

  1. Reach has a different campaign and multiplayer maps, and the default reach and DLC maps (except anniversary map) can only be played on it
  2. Yes, see above
  3. You need the Reach disk to see all the playlists
  4. No need, it matches you to anyone in the world if they are in the same playlist, but adding them as a friend lets you party up with them any time
  5. The maps are built into the disk so anyone with the disk can play them
They aren’t different versions, just different games (versions would be vanilla Reach and TU Reach, Games would be Halo CEA, Halo 3, Halo: Reach, Halo 2, Halo 3:ODST)

PS What’s your gamertag, and read some of the Halo books, it will help your understanding of the story

I don’t want to sound like I’m treating you as though you’re dumb, but are you sure you have Xbox Live? To be more precise, your Xbox 360 comes with 3 1-month trials of Xbox Live that you need to activate with your account to be able to play online.

It’s okay, I’m new to this after all. Yea I definitely have registered, check in through the web to see as well and its activated for the next 3 months.

You can check this yourself. Says he’s a Gold member. All he needs to do is pick a playlist and ‘Start Matchmaking.’
