A new weapon catagory? Utility Weapons...

Firstly the Utility Weaponry is weapons that don’t fit into a secondary or a primary weapon, and so can be used in both. Notable Utility Weapons are:
Weapons that are automatic but have extra features…

  • M7/Caseless Sub Machine Gun (Auto/Less Recoil)
  • M7S Sub Machine Gun (Auto/Zoom)
  • Machine Pistols (Auto/High Fire)
  • Plasma Rifle (Auto/Shield)
  • Brute Plasma Rifle (Auto/Shield)
  • Spiker (Auto/Health)
  • Forerunner Variant? (Auto/Something Special)
    The weapons can be used in both loadout packs, making them unique. So in theory a player could hold a Primary Utility and a Secondary Utility in the same load out…

Note to Disclaimer: I separated the Covenant Forces weaponry between the Storm Covenant, Arbiter’s Forces and Lydus’ Clan because… I wanted to show distinguishing features between each faction.

In the post Human-Covenant War, the Jiralhanae and Sangheili are trying to recover from the Great Schism, yet some Covenant Remnants have formed, like the Vol Covenant and Storm Covenant.

Arbiter’s Forces

The Arbiter’s forces, lead by Arbiter Thel’Vadam, kept their old appearances from Halo 3, this is shown in Halo: Escalation, with the exception of the Arbiter’s new look. They still wear their old garb because, they probably believe in the Arbiter and his peace treaty with Humanity; as well as the fact that most of them reside on Sanghelios, the Sangheili home world. And thus they would still possess the Covenant Empire Era weaponry. Storm Covenant

The Storm Covenant, a Covenant Remnant lead by Jul’Mdama, have different appearances in Halo 4, to their other brethren, shown in the Halo 4 Interactive Guide. This was probably due to the fact that Jul wanted to show the Sangheili’s independence, and that the Elites recruited, mostly came from Hesduros, a Sangheili colony world. The weaponry they posses is new thus showing some independence, from the Arbiter and his peace treaty with Humanity.Lydus’ Clan

Lydus’ Clan, a Jiralhanae clan lead by Elder Chieftain Lydus, they have similar looks, to when they were part of the Covenant Empire in Halo 3, this is shown in Halo: Escalation. This is probably due to fact that they aren’t technology stable or balanced, with any other species; and due to the disbanding of the covenant only possess what they had… thus went primitive. The weaponry they possess is that of Jiralhanae design, which seems to be based of retro symbolic look; they also possess their plasma rifle, which is to show they still uphold the Arbiter’s peace treaty, due to both faction sharing the weapon. - Needle Rifle (Precision, Single Shot, Medium Rate of Fire, Low Damage, Low-Medium Range){Supercombine} [Arbiter’s Forces]

It’s an interesting idea and I don’t see anything immediately wrong with it.

However I’ve already got my ideal load out system planed out in my head.

But hey! If you wiped my mind clean and made me forgot about my own idea I’d be happy with this kind of thing in Halo 5.

I like the idea…BUT…I think a brute precision weapon is somewhat odd.

replace it with more splash damage weapon perhaps? Or a single spike high damage weapon (ala gauss rifle) maybe?

I was thinking for a burst fire of spines/spikes, because one we have vary few semi-automatic weaponry, and two brutes are a more aggressive, bezerker race and thus it would fit being up close with a partial automatic weapon; plus it could still have the blades at the front so would have less ammo but a better melee? More akin to brute warfare…

  • Subduer (Automatic)
  • Spike Carbine (Precision)

At first glance, I’d think that having a Jiralhanae set of already existing weapons would seem pretty redundant. However, that doesn’t mean that they’ll always be that way.

I’m imagining that with Brute weapons, instead of inflicting damage instantly, they should inflict damage over time in what’s called “bleed damage”. It’s comparable to a stinger in some sorts. If Brute weapons used bleed damage instead of regular insta-damage, they’d be used quite differently. Instead of facing your enemies in open combat, you’d use a hit and run tactic. And if you’re caught too close, you still have the melee lunge increase to rely on.

How about a big automatic with a large magazine, x2 scope, headshot damage multiplier, and relatively low RoF for the Brutes?

When I seen the word “utility” I was thinking along the lines of grapple guns and flare guns. lol

What the heck? Dude get outta my head… I thought this too as I was making up names…

  • Humans - do normal damage;
  • Covenant - plasma/shield damage;
  • Forerunner/Promethean - do disintegration damage;
  • Brute - bleed out/Health damage;

Oh oh…wait

anyone played Mass Effect 3? How about a Graal Spike thrower for brutes?

> How about a big automatic with a large magazine, x2 scope, headshot damage multiplier, and relatively low RoF for the Brutes?

Wow awesome idea… perhaps a combination of an Automatic and Precision Weapon? A Semi-Automatic, Spine/Spike Shooter with a 2x Scope…

  • has a medium reticule, which is half way between that of an Assault Rifle - Designated Marksmen Rifle.

  • has bad recoil due to it being an assault based weapon, requiring more skill when scoped.

  • it has the brute retro blade, which gives additional bashing and lunge making up for the recoil.

  • has damage of time effect which spikes, cause for an additional 2 seconds are impact occurs.

  • has low shield damage but high health depletion over time.

  • has a low clip, much like that of an BR, which requires refilling, before an opponent can die…

This weapon would have a great combo in all fighting style although disadvantaged it has a better accuracy in close encounters and can be deadly with the use of the retro Jiralhanae blade. Common combat combinations could be:

  • Bash (take shield down) fire clip DOT (Damage over Time);
  • Another weapon takes down shielding from afar, and if opponent tries to escape players can use Subduer to DOT their opponent, which will kill them before, or even during, their escape…

like this

Yes and no.

Firstly no need for another shotgun iteration we got plenty of CQ weapons for each class…

Second more like this design with a 2X Scope, that matches design of the retro look of brute weaponary.

By the way, I thought of the weapon name due to the defition…

Subduer = someone who overcomes and establishes ascendancy and control by force or persuasion.

Basically brute force :wink:

shows me you have not played ME3

the Graal is an un-shotgun (to use a developer term), with a smart choke mod you can plant ALL of the spikes squarely on the head of a target at sniper rifle distance (not across maps but in the shooting range you can do that at maximum distance) it has headshot multiplier, charge time multiplier so combining them it causes MASSIVE damage. But it has bullet travel time so it requires skills to pull off

you can still use it in CQC but it is seriously less effective

I actaully I have… just not in a while. The ending was a real turn off for the game…

Anyway I agree with the gun but its not from or design for the Halo Franchise… a little thing called plagiarism and copyright infringement. The idea could be used as a base but worked to fit the build of a brute weapon, both design and function.

This sounds like a cool feature that could be implemented in a future halo game, perhaps a spin off one? I doubt they’ll put it into this upcoming halo though

oh yeah, design wise it is lacking halo flair, your ideal designs would be muuuch better but as a concept it would be solid.

yeah the ending sucked, Bioware’s handling of it (and their recent interviews) sucked even more

but hey…if ONE thing was good about that game was the INSANE weapon selection
