So if the covenant is “the least of your worries”, what’s worse? The flood? Forerunners? Any ideas based on fiction from the books or interviews?
The main enemies are most likely the Precursors.

Why would they want to fight us?
“I am the last of what you call precursors.”
Ring any bells?
Cookie Monster!
But really I am guessing robots and sentinals( Halo2 sentinals, those big giant ones) and hopeful;y more flood, not the halo3 flood hopefully because the floodin halo3 was pooo.
Hopefully not the Precursors, since I’m of the opinion that they should never have been added to the Halo lore.
There is always the possibility that the enemy is someone or something new to the universe. Or perhaps the enemy is familiar, but not something that we would expect. For example, an advanced Forerunner AI that acted as the monitor of the shield world in Halo 4 may have descended into rampancy during the years that it spent isolated from the rest of the universe, and now sees the Chief’s arrival as an opportunity to escape its incarceration. It could send a legion of mechanical soldiers against us, or perhaps engineer a conflict between humanity and another alien race in order to achieve its own ends. There may also be a small contingent of Forerunners still resident inside the shield world who are locked in conflict with their erstwhile servant.

That’d be pretty cool. Either that or there are remnants of the flood on the ship Chief is in, like in a large crate, and it escapes while he is on the new planet and blamed for bringing the flood back to a place where there were no flood and thus looked upon as a threat. Either that or it’d be cool in Halo 5 if a brute leader lies to a forerunner leader and makes him defect thus starting a war among the UNSC/forerunner/brutes
