Essentially, Assassination steals are a major problem. I propose a fix to this. When the person being assassinated enters the animation, his armor goes into armor lock to prevent being killed. Its only weakness is melee attack. Game wise, the only person who would be able to kill this player is the person also in the assassination. Thoughts on this?
I think if the assassin triggers the animation and doesn’t die… then no matter who kills the poor soul being assassinated… the original assassin still gets the kill.
EDIT to elaborate: OP triggers the assassination on me, then his team mate tries to steal the kill with a BR headshot on me. OP gets the kill, because he triggered the assassination first and wasn’t killed by my team. BAM!
If they went into armour lock, how would they move, OP? It’s called “lock” for a reason.
What UncleJosh said.
If I assasinate someone, and don’t get killed before the animation ends, then I get the kill. No amount of bullets from someone on my team should be able to kill my victim if i have begun the assasination.
If a teammate steals my kill that I was assassinating, my fault for doing it in front of everyone where they can just take it.
Stealing assassinations reminds me of when people complained about being killed while assassinating. If you want to assassinate a victim in front of everyone, your fault that you die or have the kill stolen.
Simple as that.
No change needs to be made. The people that steal them need to grow up. If one guy is invincible except to melee attack, couldn’t the enemy team just spam grenades and not worry about team kills?
With all the different assassination animations, it’s not always immediately clear who is actually being assassinated and so assassination steals may not always be intentional. Additionally, what if someone got an enemy one shot and was about to finish them but you decided to begin assassinating them… would you expect them to deter finishing their kill? But anyway my point is, I think it’s fine as it is.
The risk of losing the kill is part of assassinations though, this would just make them too easy.
They need a change

This. It’s rare enough to get assassinations, but when someone yoinks 'em…that’s just defeating.

Is it really that big of a problem?

That’s how it should work.

Why? If there’s a person with a head, and a bullet goes through that head, they should die. Right?
No. Assassinations are high-risk with the only reward being “Look how awesome I am!”
Not trying to defend someone stealing a kill from a teammate, but since we all know it happens, just like an enemy killing you during an assassination, best not to do it when you’re vulnerable.
I usually try assassinations when an enemy is by themselves.
If you initiate the assassination animation - you should get the kill regardless. If someone else steals your kill - they get an assist. If you are killed during it - you don’t get a kill.

Why should someone get an assist if they put a bullet through a Spartan’s head?
Assassin steals aren’t a problem. At all. It’s showboating and is always fair game to take.
This is even assuming the childish notion of “kill stealing” is even a thing. It’s not.
NO! Snipe assassins in the back of the head…Run them over…Stick them in the head…Inecenerate them.

Why are you people so against Assassinating? OP only proposed the assassin still get the points if the kill is taken, the assassin could still die and lose the kill completely, so there’s still a risk.
There’s no need at all for team mates to be able to jack the points. If you want to be a -Yoink- and ruin peoples’ fun under the OP’s system you can still do that, you just won’t get the points.
