A new solution to 1-50

ok so the community is divided here over a matter that should be rather simple.

First, let me start off by dividing this community into 2 groups, there are the casual players, and there are the competitive players.

Just because your a casual player, that doesn’t mean you suck. Just because your a competitive player, that doesn’t mean your good. Casual and competitive gaming has nothing to do with skill, but rather the mindset of the player. Some player s play for stats, they play to get their stats such as K/D ratio as good as possible, while other players play for fun, not caring if they lose or win. Heres a simple way to cater to both casual and competitive gamers WITHOUT dividing the community into 2 groups.

So, my idea is to have 2 ranks, your 1-50 rank and your title rank, your title rank never goes down and is increased by the amount of points you get in the game, you receive bonus points for winning the game. None are taken away if you lose. Your 1-50 rank on the other hand increases/ decreases depending on your win/loss ratio. Players can choose to disable their 1-50 rank if they choose to, personally this is what I would do. I believe myself to be a good player, not a “great” player but a good one. I find that how good I do in a game is determined by how hard I’m trying, if I want to KILL KILL KILL then i find that I do pretty bad, but when i’m relaxed, comfortable and not really even paying attention to my kills then i get on a roll and start doing really well. This is not the case for all gamers though. For me, when i disable my 1-50 rank I will be focusing on my title rank but the more competitive players will focus on their 1-50 rank.

EDIT: Removed 1-50 rank reset idea.

EDIT #2 Quoted from a reply, now part of the idea:

“When you have your 1-50 turned off you get matched up with other people who have it turned off (random people) and when you have it turned on you get matched with people around the same level?
So kind of liek choosing between a ranked/social version of that playlist?”

yeah thats similar to having social and ranked. it works though. i just dont know why we are arguing on these forums. if you want just progression play social. if you want ranked play ranked lol. halo 2 and halo 3 gave you this choice and they turned out pretty good.

I would like to see something like this,

Competitive Playlists - Halo 2’s Ranking System (or as close as TrueSkill can get)

Overall (this includes everything you do from Campaign to Matchmaking) - Reach’s cR System

Wouldn’t hurt anyone, caters to both “Casual” and “Competitive” players.

This sounds terrible. And why would your 1-50 reset? People hated Arena resetting. I think you are generally confused about how this game works and what long time fans want.

I’M a long time fan, and personally I think this is a good way to satisfy both audiences WITHOUT dividing the community into different palylist, and that’s generally what I’m going for. Ok, so if people don’t like the 1-50 resetting I can change it, that’s fine.

When you have your 1-50 turned off you get matched up with other people who have it turned off (random people) and when you have it turned on you get matched with people around the same level?

Good idea, I’ll edit this in.

I assumed that was what you already meant haha well done for adding it though
