A new Halo game every Year?

I heard the Quota was a new Halo game every Year.

I <3 Halo very much but I don’t know about a new game every year, I think it is a “bad idea”.

My reasons being quite simple. First off, making a game takes time. I would rather 343 spend 2 years on a game than rush to make a quick Halo in 1 year.

Secondly, a new game EVERY YEAR, that is a lot of Halo games. I really don’t want the Halo series to get what I call COD syndrome.

-New game every year that is POORLY made with the sole desire of only profit.

By that I mean they are made yearly just to make $$$$ which I hate.

That is just my though, if Really good Halo games can be made every year, then go right ahead. But, Halo games have always lasted and made to last for years and DO NOT need to be made into a new game every year.

I am excited for Halo’s future but I question making a new Halo every Year is a “good idea”.

What do you guys think?

there has been a new halo every year since 07

Not full on FPS games like Cod does.

> there has been a new halo every year since 07

There was one 09’- 10".

It worked becuase ODST was more of an expansion of Halo 3.

Reach was a big, full game with many features.

But, having a new Halo game every year would be annoying.

Halo is like a seed, you plant it and it grows. You don’t want to keep planting the seeds in the same spot over and over too soon and the ground loses all it’s nutrients, do you?

Maybe not the “best” analogy but I hope you get my point.

Halo is meant to be enjoyed for a few years then we move on to the next title. A year is FAR too soon.

Economically speaking:

-Releasing more games frequently will mean a larger profit.

-This increased profit will mean more funding.

-More funding means having access to more resources (Hiring more employees/better equipment, in essence, increasing efficiency and potential)

-Increased resources means more possible effort allowed per game. The increased resources making up for time (e.g. two workers accomplishing twice as much as one in the same amount of time)

-Thus leading to continued releases of quality games, while speeding up the frequency of releases.

A new Halo game every year would mean a cheap game in graphics and storyline. I mean Bungie took several years in between to create very good games. 343 has BIG shoes to fill and a game yearly it’s not gonna be enough time to create a great game like Bungie did.

I’m not planning to buy a yearly game if it’s not the same Bungie standard or better quality.

> there has been a new halo every year since 07

Sorry to burst you bubble but ODST, Wars, Reach were pointless The Halo Saga should have ended since Halo 3 or Halo 4 instead of those three games

A Halo game a year does not mean it will be a fps, I can see the halo universe diversifying into other gametypes to include potential customers who do not play fps games. Sure the FPS side of halo will be the primary but it doesn’t mean 343 can’t cater to others between the release of the main fps. I would imagine some halo game including the kinect and other markets like kids under 18 who cannot buy most of the halo games legally.

Yes. I’d like a Spartan-FPS that plays with all the aim-assisted goodness Halo brings. Lone Wolf based.

An ODST-FPS that plays more to the traits of a lesser being. No turret-ripping and walking I’m afraid. Not with the regular yet original UNSC badasses. But gadget-centric and more stealthy in combat…hells ya. By stealth I mean night missions make ODSTs like ninjas. Daytime missions make ODSTs near fodder like. STARS should play a role with their VISR for a GRAW like effect with the ability to tag enemies for team-work… Squad/Team based.

And if I could have an Ace Combat meets Crimson Skies meets Halo… I could live with that too.

A FPS every year? I don’t agree with but, if it was different styles of games like RTS, RPG, and so on then I would be very happy if they came out annually. I think FPS Halo games are best to keep at least 2-3 years apart.

If you got more than 1 company working on the games you actually get a 2 year production time on the games, Call of duty for example, the release a new game every year but Infinty Ward only released Modern Warfare every other year and the same for Treyarch, there were 2 years between world at war and Black Ops. So there might be a new Halo game every year but 343 will not produve all of them giving them alot of time doing their Halo game justice.

I’m pretty sure that rumor was put to rest.

It could work with two “New Trilogies” along with two AAA developers: for example: a new Forerunner Game and a new series with the Chief. My interest would be peaked for sure. -I think most of the Halo community would purchase an annual Halo game if it’s executed properly.

Just a thought…

I’m not interested in a new multiplayer environment every year. If I was, I’d be on the Call of Duty forums.

Sorry to burst your bubble but this isn’t “common knowledge” as you are portraying it.

In my opinion Halo Reach multiplayer is far superior to that of Halo 3’s multiplayer. When Halo 3 came out I was pumped up, but then it fell flat because it wasn’t the same as Halo 2. I think Reach did a good job coming back to that.

Halo Wars is a decent real time strategy game. If you do not like RTS then fine, but that does not mean there wasn’t a market for it, or that it was not enjoyable.

ODST was an interesting take from a different view. How terrible of them to innovate and not churn out regular games starring master chief after master chief.

I’m sorry but I have to whole heartedly disagree.

Halo Wars gave a MUCH needed look into the backstory of Halo. Whereas ODST was a nice spinoff that featured some new idea, and in my opinion has the best campaign of the Halo games.

And back to your statement. You really didn’t bust anyone’s bubble. You feeling the games were useless DOES NOT change the fact that there has been a Halo game every year since 07.

You have some flawed logic my friend.

I dont want a Halo game every year. I remember when i was waiting for Halo 2 to come out i was so exited. Then waiting all those years for halo 3! this is one reason why i love Halo its the hype! something you have been waiting for, for a long time!

The Halo Series doesn’t need that.

This is purely speculation, but it fits so far.

We have main games and filler games.

Main games will be released every 2-3 years, they have a full campaign, and a new and full multiplayer.

Filler games are released in the years without main games, the will have a full campaign, and include a second disc that has the entire multiplayer experience of the previous game, PLUS any map packs, AND a few brand new maps (at the moment) only accessible through the filler games’ multiplayer disc.

Think about it.
Italics are unconfirmed speculation.

Halo 3 - Main game. Full campaign, brand new multiplayer.

ODST - Filler game. Full campaign, multiplayer is separate disc and copy of Halo 3 + map packs (Heroic/Legendary/Mythic) + new maps (Mythic II)

Reach - Main game. Full campaign, brand new multiplayer.

CE Anniversary - Filler game. Full campaign, multiplayer is separate disc and copy of Reach + map packs (Noble/Defiant/Mystery) + new maps (CE classics)

Halo 4 - Main game. Full campaign, brand new multiplayer.

By this point, the halo universe will have also advanced past 2553, so maybe a continuation of ODST’s story as a filler?
