So what I’m thinking about is a sniper that has 4 rounds in a clip, and when scoped is a 1 shot kill to the head and a 2 shot kill to the body. But when unscoped the sniper fires like the focus rifle, and for each of the 4 shots, it would fire for 3 seconds with a small break into between each of the four bullets.
What is the point of having a third sniper in the game then?
> What is the point of having a third sniper in the game then?
Technically it would be the 4th sniper in the game, since we already have the UNSC Sniper rifle, the Beam Rifle and the Binary Rifle.
OP, there’s no need for another sniper rifle. 1 for each faction in the game is enough.
Yeah I don’t really see the point in it. I’d much rather we bring weapons such as the grenade launcher back instead of creating new weapons for the sake of creating new weapons.
Its meant as a replacement for the binary rifle
If there is indeed a rule for having a sniper for each faction in the game then I can’t wait to see the Flood/Precursor variants…
The binary rifle isn’t bad. It’s a really powerful weapon so it should be treated like one, so they should have right in the middle for everyone to want and fight for it

Automatic with lots of range, a relatively tiny magazine, decent damage, and really fast RoF.
Could shoot the infectious shards of Calcium that these guys do.

True. just keep it out of personal ordnance if that comes back.

I like the way you think, dude.
I had something in mind where the weapon uses neuro physics as precursor technology derives from it.
I can imagine a rift or tear in space-time that made its way rapidly across any distance virtually instantly the moment it is fired shredding any foe or vehicle caught within the tear’s trail/path. I think that would be pretty cool to see.
Honestly can’t wait for the next installment!
I’d much rather have the covenant have their own rarer heavier hitting sniper that shoots needles. Headshots are one hit kill while body shots require two hits which causes the needles to super combine in an explosion causing minimal splash damage to those nearby the unfortunate victim. As for the rof and mag size I’ll leave that up to you to decide.
I just love the needler weapons and miss the needle rifle terribly in Halo 4 :3
I think the Binary is fine as is. It’s not incredibly common, and it’s very powerful, yet enemies can see your location when you’re scoped.
I don’t think the Binary needs replacement. The NEED to scope and laser sight gives it plenty of unique dynamic vs the standard Sniper. The Binary does need to change though, preferably to a strengthened and slightly reworked form of the Focus Rifle (High damage, instant finisher on headshot after shield drops, overheats much faster), that way all 3 Snipers function differently.
Either balance the Binary Rifle or make something weird and interesting in its place. Forerunners were incredibly advanced, and almost any crazy mechanic could make sense.
No need to make a gun that works exactly like you’d expect a human gun to work but more powerful.
I was thinking, keep the binary rifle, but make it a one shot kill anywhere above the waist, if it’s below the waist, then it’s a two shot kill. Other than that, keep it the way it is.
At least make it something that takes some skill to use. I.e. a brute sniper that fires a crystalline javelin that nails players to the wall and explodes. Anyone remember This?
Now that I would buy.
The Binary Rifle is perfectly fine as is.It’s a power weapon and should be overwhelming but with a couple catches. The reason why i think it was viewed as too much was mainly due to PoD’s.If there was just one on the map with a say, 2 min respawn time.It could not be overwhelming. It could only get a maximum of 6 kills.6 kill’s isn’t that much and suits a power weapons criteria perfectly.
There is also one detail some people fail to realise.Which is that the human sniper can achieve over 10 kills with 4 kill’s per magazine.Compared to the binary’s 2 per mag.It is in reality a good trade off.Since even with 2 shots to kill with the human sniper which comes to 2 kills per mag.
So how and why should the binary be replaced?Just because it’s a OHK anywhere?Let’s not forget the fact the binary has a massive laser that can be seen across the map when scoped.Meaning that in order to do the most with it you must scope in,shoot, and kill your opponent before he/she notices.Which is roughly 1/2 a second in general.
Let’s not forget its dam near impossible to get a snapshot with it unless they are within a few feet.Though i have killed acrossed the map hip-firing with it, but only in a custom with friends.I wouldn’t dare risk a precious shot from that galant beauty.
Don’t you dare pretend the Beam Rifle didn’t happen.10 snapshot’s per beam rifle was normal.Yet you pick on my precious lil beauty, Miss Binary. How silly of you OP.
Now with all that in mind i can safely say a “replacement” is in no way, shape, or form necessary.Ever!

It’s still a stupid idea. It’s a one hit kill bodyshot rifle that is “balanced” with somewhat slower firing rate and a red line.
I’d rather see a long-range weapon that functions uniquely, such as a Mortar, Focus Rifle, etc than I would see yet another clone.
