“All hail the conquering hero!”
Doesn’t the statue of Master Chief remind you of the Gravemind quote “I am a monument to all your sins”? The more I think about it, the more I think that that’s what it symbolizes. Could Master Chief somehow be responsible for the return of the Flood? The trailer setting looks like wherever they are just got nuked, perhaps to get rid of a Flood infestation? And the Infinity is on fire in the background. Did the Flood do that?
What do you guys think?
interesting, now that you mention it it does kinda remind me of that, and that could be a possible theory! but like we all know…we know nothing, so much is just theory right now. i can not wait until E3 so we can find out more about this campaign.
No, not really. Gravemind’s line is literally referring to the fact that the creation of the flood is because of humanity.
All hail the conquering hero is sarcastic praise.

But the flood was created because of the Forerunners
I can see where you are coming from, but it doesn’t remind me of that quote. The city could be infested and that’s why its in a state of destruction.
Unlikely to hold any water, but I like the connection.

No… the flood was the decision of the precursors to advance their state of evolution to a form that can “unite” all life, unless I’m mistaken.

and then it became corrupted. Very similar to what the didact tried to do with digitizing all life.

Sort of. Supposedly it was a side effect of the Precursors being in extended hibernation for millions of years. The quality of the hibernation expired, they became corrupted, and eventually became the flood. Supposedly they liked what they had become. Considering the conflicting personal viewpoints presented in the Forerunner books, I personally find it unclear if they truly intended this or just decided to use a corruption effect to their advantage. While they make statements about forcing all life to merge, the books hint that the Primordial still had a heavy interest in the development of humans. Likewise, the Precursor or Precursor construct known as Domain seemed in some ways to work against the interests of the Flood by providing warnings. It might be more along the lines of a Xantos Gambit… Either they infect all life and unite them forcibly or create a force to push all life to unite in brotherhood. Either way, I do see Precursor spawn returning in some fashion by Halo 5.
