A message to 343i and The Halo Community

This will be my first and only post, but I’ve spent a long time brainstorming and thinking about this topic and I believe everyone should see it. I worked really hard on this, so please read it all the way through before you throw rude comments at me

Call of Duty became popular because it was unique and easy to understand. CoD is going to drop off the map just like Halo because of how complicated it’s becoming. Adding new things like IW and Treyarch are is only going to drive people away. I played a lot of Cod4, WaW, MW2, and a little black ops. But black ops 2 is so complicated out of the box that I didn’t want to even mess with it anymore. For a game to be popular it needs to be simple so new players can grasp it and aren’t overwhelmed. Halo 5 needs to go back to simple Halo. Obviously you can’t just keep pumping out the same game with a new campaign and be successful. There has to be new things to attract the veterans. But adding armor abilities, kill streaks, and create a class are not it. Add new weapons, maps, a new engine, but don’t change the fundementals of the game. The fundementals of Halo should never be changed. The BR should never be removed nor should it have a competitor(DMR), bloom and sprint should never have been added. After bloom and sprint were taken out of Reach it was a much better and more fluid game. It still wasn’t a good game because the maps were made for sprint and bloom. The game has to revolve around the basic concept or else it will never be successful. Now I know all companies care about is sales, but you’re never going to be able to out sell Call of Duty if you keep making their game. Like when Brad Pitt says on Moneyball “If we play like the Yankees in here, we’ll lose to the Yankees out there”. Saying you can’t build a team like the Yankees because the A’s don’t have the same money and resources as the Yankees. So don’t build the same game Treyarch and IW make, because that’s exactly what you’re doing. You’ve lost more sales by trying to mimic CoD than if you just tried to make Halo. People say “Stop living in the past” or “Don’t be scared of progression”, but think about it. Football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and almost all sports have
basically been the same game for decades and does their popularity ever go down? No. Your concept should be to add things to the game, not change it. Fix problems, not create new ones. Keep the game simple and easy to understand. Not easy, just easy to understand. Halo was once the most successful FPS franchise of all time. So why change the game? You’re not going to be able to convert people from CoD to Halo by trying to mimic their own game. Bring back Halo. Give them something appealing, something completely different from CoD. Not Black Ops 2 and Halo 3 combined. Give us, the players, the best damn original Halo game you can make.

I didn’t mean to post in this section, can somebody bump this to general discussion?

  1. Paragraphs dude
  2. If this is multiplayer, I’d say the Halo 4 or Halo Xbox One section is a better place to put this, the Universe Section is where we talk about the lore and such

EDIT: I didn’t see your recent post before putting this :]

> Call of Duty became popular because it was unique and easy to understand.

Problem right off the bat: Call of Duty in no way was unique. It’s basically whatever we see on FOX News or the newest gungasm movie.

What new things would you add? More campaign levels? Enemies? Allies? More armor? More Multiplayer levels? Guns? Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes…but you can only add in so much.

Perhaps they can work more to improve already effective aspects of the game like Spartan Ops (ie more episodes) or restore an impoverished and disappointing Forge mode.

Story-wise…

bring back the characters we know and love (ie the Arbiter…and well that’s it lol…everyone else is dead).

As for the lore part (since this is the Halo Universe forum) I feel as though the campaign for the original trilogy was compelling enough. If anything they need to make the levels longer

I agree for the most part.

I played Halo 4 multiplayer less than any other Halo multiplayer, including ODST which only had firefight for cryin out loud.

Personally, I hope they go back to the way the original trilogy had its multiplayer, and if people really need things to be spiced up then they can make some new and interesting game modes or something.

I know it wont happen, because once changes on this level get made they dont get taken back, but I can always hope, lol.
