A message to 343 - ranking system

Dear 343,

When I first played halo I was wrecked by the better players. Hell I am still getting stomped into the dirt and coming out of the closet in China.

But when Halo Reach hit, I was first taken back by the lack of truly skilled players. But hay it was a new game give it time. Needless to say I started playing other games.

Now in Halo 4… Well I don’t want to wate untill later, I want some type of ranking system now. I like winning when it is a challange. But I need to lose some too so I can see what i need to work on.

I am not asking for the 1 - 50 or 1 - 1426 ranking system. I am just asking for something that is very very good. like maybe a BPR something others can see in the game/loby and online. Just do something ok. Make it one playlist. Just 1. That is all I am asking.

I give you credit for some of the good things, like a new race of enemys, new story, spartan ops, and more. I even think the boltshot is ok, personaly I want to take the sill beating hart out of the dam kids chest that uses it all the time. But I know I can’t have my cake and eat it too.

I am also a student at college going for computer programming and Info Security. So I know that with any change you have security risk, and it takes time and money to fix stuff; but can’t you call this an acceptable level of risk?

I just want it to find me some decent -Yoink!- games

I think the ranking system is lame. They should have put different Ranks like all the other games.

The CSR that will be added to Waypoint (possibly in-game sometime in the future, I wouldn’t rule it out but we don’t have word on that) is basically just visualizing MS’s TrueSkill system.

TrueSkill is present in any game that uses matchmaking on the 360. The Halo 3 ranks weren’t separate from this, neither were the social playlists there.

For the ranks in H3, Bungie likely tightened the TrueSkill so that players of the same “rank” were matched together, and loosened it up a bit for the social playlists.

Adding the ranks doesn’t change anything, other than showing you where you are on a scale. I’m pretty sure that 343 tightened up the TrueSkill for Halo 4 compared to Reach. If you completely stomp your opponents every match, it should catch up eventually.

I would like for the CSR to be added in-game but it’s not the end of the world if they don’t.

right but if they don’t, you won’t have yet another thing a lot of games don’t have. Ranks that mean -Yoink-. Sorry but i love halo and all but i might have gotten cod if they didn’t rank me up for playing like -Yoink-.
