A map design I sketched for Grifball in Halo 5

With the lack of any news regarding Grifball in Halo 5, I’ve started thinking of what improvements that could be made to help improve gameplay. And I began drawing down sketches for possible map designs. And I saved a couple of my favorites, specifically a map called PUMA Stadium. Something that could be done in Forge, but I’m personally hoping for something similar similar design at some point in the future. (LET ME DREAM)

I do apologize in advance for my sketches if they dont meet standards. And some inaccuracies. And grammar (my handwriting is atrocious.) These were fairly last minute, and the distance between goals is supposed to be 100m (specifically about 300ft), not 600m. I dun goofed with my average sports fields.

But here two of my favorite sketches:
Point of view

Map layout

The biggest improvement in mind was just having an official griffball map, made from scratch with dedicated assets and maybe some easter eggs and inside-joke advertisements (like the Puma post in the PoV sketch.) But another big one, for me anyway, was creating the spawns of the standium to be abover level and behind a barrier to giving players the chose to jump straight down or strafe to the sides and jump towards the outer walls to help keep healthy player flow and aide against spawn trapping.
And that TV looking thing in the center of the ceiling in the PoV sketch is a scoreboard. I thought it would be cool to have one that can actually count the score for both teams (The design is basically two massive flat screens backed against each other from the bottom of the screens and going up at verticle angle forming a V shape from the sidelines, making the screens easy to read from the spawn points.)

I may add more later, but it’s 2am here. But please feel free to discuss any improvements that could be made.

They should have grifball maps have fall back spawns, in case of spawn killing. There should be another level above the main floor where you must jump and/or clamber to score the bomb. On the second level, there will be 4 extra spawns above main floor. It will kinda look like a gradual rock climbing map.

I’m expecting or at least hoping maps to have more elevation thanks to clambering

Looks good! I like the rocket league vibe I’m getting from it, makes it seem more like a sport than a gametype.

That’s really cool man.

I hope they do something like this. An actual stadium would be really cool.

Classic design with a sporting event vibe. I like it a lot! Good job.

I love the Fotus and RvB Puma ads you squeezed in there lol. I’ve never really been into Grifball, and the way to win me over to it is to make it more glitzy and sporty like this. I think your idea is fantastic.

A late response, I know, but I get what you’re going with. I think. But I can see issues arising with the clamber/jump idea. What about the defending team camping up there on the second level and smacking away players trying to get to the goal? Because, especially with clamber, you need to take the extra moment to hit higher ground which an make you vulnerable.

Something crossing your idea with mine I can see fitting though. Where the second floor (in my sketches, the standard spawns) act as fall back spawns behind a one-way shield but keeping the goal, and a set of standard spawns on the first floor.
