A lot of people are just paranoid.

The people who say the music doesn’t sound like “Halo” are paranoid beyond belief. It’s a psychological thing, if the music was still done by Marty and Mikey, it’d just be a song that you don’t like as much as the rest but it’ll still sound like “Halo” You can have your opinions about the music and the gameplay(which has made some drastic changes), but you should wait til October 22nd(I believe) when you’ll hear the full OST before you go around sounding ignorant.

Now I like the music, and the music has gotten progressively dryer over the last few games in my opinion, I haven’t heard ODST’s OST but I didn’t like too much from Halo 3 and even less from Reach, the music in Halo 4 is a nice change and it all sounds nice to me. I don’t know why people are starting a Civil War between Bungie fans and 343i fans with that saying, “It doesn’t feel/sound like Halo”.

The reason we have a problem with it is because it sounds more like something from Call of Duty than Halo.

> The reason we have a problem with it is because it sounds more like something from Call of Duty than Halo.

What? How does it sound like Call of Duty music?

> The reason we have a problem with it is because it sounds more like something from Call of Duty than Halo.

They sound nothing alike.

It sounds nothing like Call of Duty’s soundtrack. I don’t even know who composes their music but I do know this.

When I think Halo music, Marty and Michael instantly pop into my head. Unless Neil can do the same thing or something similar I doubt I’ll learn to like his music.

> The reason we have a problem with it is because it sounds more like something from Call of Duty than Halo.

Sorry, I disagree. I love what Neil’s doing with the music, it sounds amazing!

Granted Halo 4’s soundtrack is more Halo-ised version of CoD music.

Hans Zimmer composed for some games, the same composer for some of the music in The Dark Knight Rises.

Guess what. That CoD piece was actually very good. Just because two songs may resemble each other doesn’t mean they’re both bad.

I like Them Both There are Both very Talented

Btw Check out My Halo 4 Songs
The first on the top left is my newest song. Enjoy

yes it is a new composer and a new game with new themes, of course its going to be different, and in my mind it still sounds like halo. anyway do you really want bungies music department to comeback with their new composer? i definitely dont because after his diamond jubilee performance, paul McChartny will make the ‘bad’ music even worse.

> The reason we have a problem with it is because it sounds more like something from Call of Duty than Halo.

I didnt know COD had an original soundtrack. the only music I remember (vaguely) is the end-game music from multiplayer

It is not psychological. It sounds different, without a shadow of a doubt. If Marty had made the tracks we’ve heard I can assure you I’d be very confused; “Marty, when did you stop drawing influence from progressive rock?” "Marty, when did you start loving electronica? “Marty, when did you stop liking melodies?” “Marty, why are you using a British choir?” “Marty, why is there dubstep-breakdowns at the beginning and ending of certain tracks?” “WTF, Marty?”

That’s not trying to diss Davidge either, it’s just that a lot of the prereleased tracks do NOT sound like they’d fit in a Halo game. They style, the influence, the arrangement, it’s clearly a different person. ‘To Galaxy’ is the only one I’ve heard that sounds like something that could have come from Marty. I just hope Davidge doesn’t ignore the classic Halo songs for his own sense of authorship, the classic Halo theme needs to be there somewhere.

Well that’s the thing, it makes sense to add in some electronica into his music style. The music for Halo 4 will have to relate to the theme, on a new forerunner planet, all of these mechanic and organic creatures are attacking. You might be confused but I’m telling you if people thought that the music was being made by Marty they wouldn’t pay such great attention to detail. I saw a video where someone was bashing the track, “Ascendancy” and ofcourse said, “This doesn’t sound like Halo” then the author of the video told him a name of a few other tracks that were in previous other Halo games and made him look completely ignorant. The music also appeals to different personalities, Neil’s music is more upbeat and fast paced in some of the songs or to me just sounds like it will involve a lot of action, and I like that, which is why I enjoyed Halo 2 so much. Also think about it. We know that there is somee strange hate between Halo and CoD fans. So even if music in CoD sounds good, it’s garbage because it’s from a “garbage” game, same thing if good music from CoD sounds similar to Halo’s music, then we have to bash the whole Halo series.

I’d hate to drag on but not only CoD, someone said that “Awakening” sounded similar to GoW music and few people agreed and many disagreed completely because GoW is nothing like Halo, doesn’t make any sense to me.

> The reason we have a problem with it is because it sounds more like something from Call of Duty than Halo.

LOL seriously??? This music is too sci fi to sound like a war game. I anything it reminds me more of gears of war 2 or 3 music

I haven’t heard anything from Halo 4 that sounds like CoD and I don’t care about that. I’m not confused about what you’re saying either, you’re saying that if Marty had composed these same tracks for Halo 4 we would love them without question. I get that, but it’s also wrong. Every Halo game that Marty composed had a distinct flavor to them that fit with whatever game it was, but there was a clear consistency to it all, just as there is from most artists. I’m not a musical scholar and I’m not great with all the terminology, so I’m having difficulty wording it, but there’s a very distinct style to Marty’s music. He was very heavily-influenced by progressive rock and his pieces had a lot of emphasis on tribal percussion, heavy strings, etc. Because he has composed all the Halo games up till know, to me that style=Halo music. Now that he’s gone, it just doesn’t sound the same.

It sounds similar, but I don’t understand the complaining when NO music (soundtrack or other) is original anymore

Instead of comparing the beginning of each song at seventeen seconds, listen to the entirety of each song. They each have their own vibes, sounds, and over all message.

Call Of Duty: MW3 (Main Theme)- More last stand-ish.

Halo 4 OST - To Galaxy (Supposed main theme)- Discoverly of something new by an old warrior.

Even if you still hellbent on comparing the two, might as well compare it to Metal Gear Solid because ya know, percussion with low underlining bass stings make a song what it is… (Obvious sarcasm)

I started it at 17 seconds because the beginnings are so slow, just wanted people to get straight into the comparison.

Lol he’s not saying whether or not they’re good songs the fact is that they are both essentially identical in theme. Start out slow and dramatic and build up.

This is a small sample of what halo 4 is lacking in general.

ORIGINALITY!!!
