So, we’ve had gametype counts and map counts posted before, so let’s analyze what Halo 5 ships with when we take away any kind of “cheating” numbers. I’m only going to count Arena maps/gametypes at this time.
Gametypes:
Slayer
CTF
Strongholds
Breakout is a round-based CTF variant. It could be created as far back as Halo 2.
SWAT is a Slayer variant.
Maps:
Coliseum
Empire
Fathom
Plaza
The Rig
Truth
Eden is a modified version of Empire.
Regret is a modified version of Truth.
Overgrowth is a modified version of Plaza.
There’s a modified version of The Rig in the works - this leaves only Coliseum and Fathom to be remixed.
Pegasus, Orion, Basin, Recurve, Deadlock, Guillotine, Entombed, Antifreeze, Altitude, Crossfire, Gambol, Trench, and Trident are all Forge maps.
So, Halo 5 currently has 3 gametypes, 6 unique maps, and 6 Warthog skins.
Needs more Warthog skins in req packs.
Click that link. It shows the playlists in Halo 3 on the day it launched, over 8 years ago. It had like 3 times as many playlists at launch, a full suite of social playlists, and mroe gamemodes than Halo 5 has in general, plus Forge and a file browser. It’s sad how much Halo 5 lacked at launch, and even sadder how much it still lacks after two “big” updates

They put all their effort in to appealing to the “other” demographic with Halo 4. That didn’t work out too well either. This is just what happens when you don’t know your audience.
343i needed to make a game with hard but fair and rewarding gameplay with a host of complimentary features, like Split screen, LAN, Forge, Social and competitive playlists. Halo 4 and 5 have failed to be “complete” Halo games and have been losing the varied communities that made up the Halo fanbase as a result.
It seems like 343i is either being lazy, or they just don’t care. Sure we get “free monthly updates”, but that still doesn’t excuse the lack of content at launch compared to older Halo games on an older console.

> Hell, even Halo 4 added more than 5.
they added it over a couple years, I remember the first couple weeks they added team snipers. And the next week it was gone. then it came back again. I stopped playing shortly after
I really enjoy the competitive-focus of the gameplay in Halo 5, but the way they are designing and handling the content is its biggest issue… I like that they’re designing primarily 4v4 maps, but there’s not enough diversity in the maps with the remixes…
There’s too much effort going into meaningless content like armor sets and REQ weapons, and not enough going into meaningful content like maps and available gametypes.

They need to catch on quickly they give us forge without any gametypes. They give us only one cooperative campaign Esk experience. They give us a fraction of the game types other halos had. WHY ARE THEY TORTURING US

343 needs to take a long hard look at this. Its probably the main reason h5 is falling so hard.
H3 was brilliant because the core gameplay worked casually and competitively with few changes(no radar, higher movement in MLG). Halo 5 could be the same if only 343 embraced matchmaking variety. WTF is “Holiday Social”? And why is it Snipers and Slayer? Where is Action Sack? Where are the playlists people loved?
I just don’t understand 343’s logic. What makes it worse is they aren’t even explaining why H5 has less playlists than any Halo…even less than its competition. Similar thing happened to Titanfall. Great gameplay, little variety. People lost interest very fast. By the time Respawn added co-op and a couple more playlists a huge chunk of players left and never came back…
I don’t get the huge problem with remixes, there are no similarities between plaza and overgrowth. All the breakout maps are unique, forged or otherwise.
Lack of game modes, I’ll give you that but I also see why they would want to keep a constrained playlist.
halo 5 failing? I’ve never had trouble finding a game. Lots of aaa titles now unfortunately it make sense to stagger content to keep people coming back, glad it’s free
I’m not angry that 343 have remixed maps like Eden and Plaza - in fact, I’m quite fond of them. I am angry with the lack of effort and care that 343 have shown in regards to the amount of Forge maps. There are three possibilities as to why 343 has decided to include an overwhelming majority of Forge maps:
343 couldn’t be bothered to create actual maps so just gave the intern Forge and told them to have at it.
343 simply didn’t have the time to design actual maps due to Microsoft time constraints.
There aren’t enough skilled, educated people at 343 to make high-quality maps.
