A LIVE! Map for HCS Viewers

This is to ask the HCS pro scene to give it’s twitch audience a top-down view of the maps in which tracks player movement and positioning throughout the match. Tracks weapon/power-up spawn times. And tracks objectives and objective scoring be it strongholds or CTF.
It would offer a different perspective on the current HCS match in play. And give players incentive to watch the HCS pro scene in order to learn positioning and tactics by the pros. And then use that in later arena games.

The HCS scene needs to see this!

LIVE! Map example of what a strongholds match would look like on Empire:

What are your thoughts guys?

EDIT: Just learned the CoD pro scene has something like this in their games (top left corner).

Would love for them to add this in their games and an analyst desk to boot

I agree. Its super informative and interesting. And it helps people who arent huge halo fans who stumble on the stream get some basic understanding of the maps as well.

That would be pretty cool, I have caught the HCS on and off lately and really enjoy just having it on in the background.

How would you implement this during an HCS match?

the casters have enough trouble keeping up with the action as it is seems like. plus, they already cast in spectator mode with outlines on, which provides the same information.

I’ve watched some of the COD pro league stuff because of Formal. They do an above map view, and it can be helpful. Granted I’ve only played maybe 10 hours of COD my entire life, still helpful.

Interesting. I’m guessing there’s a CoD pro league channel I can go look at.

Very cool idea. I love the old heatmaps Bungie.net had, and a live version of this in game would be pretty interesting.

I wouldn’t know how to. But the HCS could implement it like the CoD pro league does with theirs.

So I’ve checked out the CoD Pro League scene and they do in fact have a map feed in the top left corner of the player cam. The shoutcasters can even enlarge and shrink it at their discretion mid conversation. And I thought “that’s what the HCS needs.”
