Ok spartan ops so far has been nothing but fighting. To me Youd think wed get to see a brake.
Id love to be sent in as a simple military police so we could see some civies being civies. You know Maybe be summoned to just be police in a covie asylum on earth to help keep the piece. see some grunts and elites play hop scotch. Finally get to see what the children look like. Get to see a wife and husband fight… lol
I’d certainly like to see slices of civilian life and maybe the tying-up of some loose ends (del Rio) as well. I’m not sure how they’d really work that into Spartan Ops’ gameplay format, though.
The Waypoint app could be a great place to store such productions, but it wouldn’t be effective at promoting the games themselves. Hm…

There were several moments in halo where Ive found my self seeing a world that has been in pain. A Galaxy of war with nothing but blood to stain it. Each had its moments of peace to prepare for the bigger battle. Halo 3 however had the most effective in my eyes. We got to see injured soldiers Laying on their last legs, and as we walked passed they raised their head to see hope. Something like that can drive a play. To see the end of chaos and know they are the light that drives it away.
I think if we were put in the fixing of Del Rio such as you suggested, see the civies fixing their homes and morn those dead, only to have a large fight brake out with who knows. Maybe a alien drug cartel using human weapons. I really dont know. But what ever it is Im sure just that moment of peace and fixing would make players want to help.

I love this idea. I mentioned something similar to this in the Halo Universe thread, that If 343i really want Halo to up its game, keep on the same path with the MP but really try to open up the story telling with the Halo Universe. Show us the universe in times of civil unrest, in times of ‘assumed’ peace and in times of total war.
Show us the other occupants and how the Spartan program has now become a house hold name.
This is a great suggestion.I can see something like this implemented for Halo 5 as a side project for 343.It would be very interesting as nothing like it has been done in Halo yet so there is no way to know whether it would be successful or not. This would also allow a deeper look into the lore of Halo in-game.Which i would greatly enjoy, i love story telling in video games.I would enjoy reading books in the elder scrolls games. It allowed a deeper view into the lore of the game.Which is very satisfying to people with patience and a love for storytelling.

Spartan O’s any one?
I could imagine some greedy guy using spartans as a way to promote their product. To see it would be Hilarius.

I’m not all for your idea, but it does bring to mind something I was hoping Spartan Ops could accomplish. I felt they could have used Spartan Ops to explore other areas of Halo lore and its universe.
They sort of did this by bringing in Halsey and revealing all of the Forerunner artifacts with the Librarians Key. But it would be cool if you just went to different places doing things other than just killing Forerunners and Covenant.
Now I don’t know where this annoying implementation originated from, but CoD uses it prominently. Halo began implementing it in Reach (but not as severe since you can still kill your marines) and it’s still in Halo 4 (albeit reasonably used, you don’t get that during the Hunter fight on Composer). This is just as bad as Soft Kill Zones, which are used prominently in Battlefield.
I know there are some sick people out there but what are the chances of them picking up a game where it’s primarily about killing non-humanoid aliens, especially when there’s dozens of human killing games out there.
In encounters involving hostages or civilians running around wildly (which they should NOT be doing looks at Reach level Exodus), it’s inevitable that there will be friendly fire.
Can’t there be better consequences, like some unfortunate event that causes the Pelican delivering rocket launchers to crash? Who remembers that PoA easter egg in CE where you got punished by a bunch of invincible marines?
Honestly, stuff like Collateral damage is not incentive to keep the civilians alive. It’s actually discouraging. When I try to save those cursed workers in the Voi factory, there are instances where they tend to walk in front of my gun and die. I’m glad I don’t get a -Yoink!- warning, I’d have reverted anyway.

I fully agree with the point that it is annoying to ‘revert’ over and over again, but i feel your clasping at straws here. This is in no way me taking a shot at you.
I’m sure they could implement an environment with Civilians, Covies, Forerunners, Insurgents, Covie separatists and still make it work. Its all time and effort.
(yes i know that’s an extreme)

Yeah it wasn’t that severe but it did happen occasionally, especially in Reach.

SPARTANS as Military Police = Bad Idea/Misuse of High Priority Resources.
