A Letter From The Casual Community

Thank You 343.

Op thought this was clever:

Just kidding by the way.

Gracias 343, gracias.

Okay. Did I miss something?
Why are these “Casual gamers” thanking 343Industries? Has something been said that the “hardcore gamers” might find offensive? (is it hardcore vs casual, or is it competitive vs casual?)

Nope, Halo is a competitive game.

They need to stop complaining til see we more… a lot more.

Video games created MLG, MLG didn’t create video games. Therefore when a video game is created it is up to the developers to decide what shall be added and then it’s up to MLG to decide whether that game is competitive for your tournaments or not.

if MLG wants a competitive game then MLG should go make a competitive game. Oh wait. They can’t. Because almost all of them have NO PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE in video game DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT, or CREATION

Yeah! Thanks, 343!

Videogames were made for fun, not for being competitive. Anyone who thinks that it’s just wrong. flamesuit

Everyone thinks that Reach was bad because of the AA, Bloom, and things like that. I just don’t think about it, hop in the game, play some matches and having a good time with my friends, and I’m good about it.

343i, waiting for Halo 4! :3

its not your fault your bad at video games, you should consider a game that wasn’t created and made famous for its competition.

> if MLG wants a competitive game then MLG should go make a competitive game. Oh wait. They can’t. Because almost all of them have NO PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE in video game DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT, or CREATION

Except Halo was designed to be a competitive game. To make it “casual” is to be destroying its identity.

Dang, that is one well thought out letter, OP. Well done. Pat yourself on the back.

Except Halo was competitive before you entered grade school

Not much of a letter, there’s not even a body to it.

Ah of course it’s identity.

Halo 1 had lets see:
Master Chief
Cortana
UNSC
Forerunner Architecture
An alien enemy
Awesome Campaign
Fun multiplayer (EVEN THOUGH IT HAD A GAME BREAKING PISTOL)

Halo 4 will have:
Master Chief
Cortana
UNSC
Forerunner Architecture
An alien enemy
Awesome Campaign
Fun multiplayer

Who said Halo 4 wasn’t designed around competition? you don’t know, I don’t know, noone knows. Multiplayer itself is competitive, here you’re just blurring the line between competitive and uber-competitive.

And Of course the stat flame shows up, the only real defense of a real pro MLG player. You shouldn’t have chosen a multi-million Franchise meant to sell consoles and appeal to a vast variety of players regardless of background. Go play Counter-strike or Quake, that’s more up your alley I’m sure

The beauty of the casual community is they’ll like anything they get.

So why not remove sprint? Then we all play the same game. The casuals will thank 343 either way. They’re thanking 343 right now.

Think about it.

Actually… you’re very right! However, those in the casual camp would enjoy tactics that reduce skill gap, atleast that’s how I see it–so they can use the more random factors of gameplay to their benefit, like sprint and bloom.

The beauty of the MLG/competitive community is they think they’re the center of attention and that they understand game design.

So why not keep sprint? because they’ve already designed the mp maps and campaign around the fact that the game has sprint. The competitives will complain about the game either way. They’re denouncing Halo 4 off of 20 seconds of gameplay, divided into 5 3 second clips.

Think about it.

The Magnum wasn’t game breaking. Optimally, it should have been a 4sk, but it wasn’t as bad as people made out to be.

> Who said Halo 4 wasn’t designed around competition? you don’t know, I don’t know, noone knows. Multiplayer itself is competitive, here you’re just blurring the line between competitive and uber-competitive.

I’m not blurring any line. The elements that MLG want/don’t want in the game are what typically defined Halo (minus the no radar, but that’s a distinctive quality of MLG as far as MM goes). They cut weapons because the weapons they don’t want typically have no viable purpose anyway, they use their own maps because they’re typically good layouts to ensure fair play, their current Reach playlist uses ZB because it doesn’t have any purposely random elements in it as far as shooting goes.
In other words, MLG wants a competitive game. In other words, MLG wants Halo to be Halo.
