I’d like there to be hundreds of EEs and secrets of all sizes and search difficulties in Halo 4. That way more players will have the opportunity of being first to find one. You don’t even have to spend a lot of precious studio time making the smaller ones either. If you’re taking a break from polishing the broad side of a stucture, why not throw in small message or doodle like the ones on the trees from Halo 3. Please do spend some valuable time on the big ones though. I want some to take years to find. I don’t want the biggest EEs found during the first week or something.
Also, why not have an in studio contest, where a number of employees can make and hide their own EE in the game and see which ones take the longest to find. Employees with undiscovered EEs by the 6th month after release, would win a great parking space or something.
I must admit I love easter eggs. I sincerely hope that 343i realizes the amount of replay value that easter eggs give to a game. Especially if they are as large in size as the Tribute room in Reach.
There is one thing that comes with easter eggs, exploration. That too is what drives me to search easter eggs with my friend. And because of that I honestly hope 343i lets us explore the campaign missions outside of map boundaries, and aren’t afraid to go there too by themselves. Easter eggs and exploration outside of the set path, those are the things I have always found huge replay value from in any Halo game.
If there is a single reason I haven’t played a lot of campaign in Reach, it’s the lack of ability to leave the map boundaries. Sure, possible on some level through complex tricks (which are kinda fun actually), but nothing near to the scale in Halo 2 or even 3.
I would definitely say yes for more easter eggs. Of coruse only as long as they take the priorities with more important tasks first. After all, we don’t want an unpolished game because the developers spent too much time crafting easter eggs.
