What is the limit to an A.I.’s Control? I know there’s dumb and smart A.I. and the Spartans have control of their bodies but could the A.I.’s take over control of the armour or even the human cause it’s through neural implants?
I realize that your question pertains to man-made AIs, to which I don’t have a definitive answer for. However, in Halo Last Light, the Forerunner AI Intrepid Eye does load itself into Fred’s armor and while he’s in it she takes control. So I suppose that it is at least possible for a human AI to do the same… Man, Last Light was such a good book!

Oh man! Can you tell me more about this please
I haven’t heard anything about this or this book
Also any A.I. is what I was asking sorry haha Forerunner, human, whatever you know I’d like to learn
thanks
I’m not sure of the specifics of the Fred situation, but from all the “Cortana was not really in chief’s mind” discussions, the AI generally sits between the user’s brain and the armor’s drive systems, so presumably any AI could control spartan armor. The problem is getting in in the first place, as I doubt the armor has any sort of wifi capability designed for taking in an AI, it has to be plugged in.

Well think about it. If an AI could via a human neural interface either displace a human consciousness or subsume it into themselves as if it was just a data node; you’d basically have the Borg. Especially if you started introducing things like the Domain. However because the series has went in the direction of an AI rebellion and thematically is all about control vs freedom; I would have expected this to be hinted at if it was possible. It would be a lot easier for Cortana if she could simply implant every human with a tweaked neural interface like the Chief has and control or influence them.
But in Halo 4 and 5 its not really mentioned that human officers have neural implants. Theres nothing in Halo 5 or most of the post Halo 5 stuff to imply Cortana or any other AI compromised UNSC personal through this means. So I can’t see the story leading into that direction, which means I don’t think it can be done. Basically we don’t know enough about the neural interface. Its probably just an internet or heads up display rather than a vehicle for an AI to possess or control a humans body.
In Legacy of Onyx they confirm that a Guardian can’t disable a Spartans armor. So I would take that to indicate that an AI can’t remotely hack a suit of Spartan Armour. Which means it would have to be directly linked to effect control, at which point the AI would be physically vulnerable and probably subject to various controls. I mean, wouldn’t Cortana have just remotely hacked Osiris armor in the last mission if she could do that?Plus thematically I think Halo leans more towards the idea that AI and organics are separate. So although Spartans and Forerunners rely on their AI and benefit in this symbiotic relationship its not to the point where the two become blurred. This is something a lot of sci-fi likes to do. Think dues ex where humans actually replace whole sections of their body with mechanical limbs. A Spartan is still just wearing armour and his augmentations are still biological. Whilst they did introduce the composer and in Halo 4 Cortana does come pretty close to saying she wants to be human; both of these keep the distinction because they involve moving from one state to the next. Plus I’d say the neural interface and what it does isn’t that prominent in the Halo lore like say Ghost in the Shell where they really beat you over the head with trans-humanism and people incorporating technology into their evolution. So when Halsey or Halo 5 Cortana talk about human evolution, “our destiny as a species” they mean the improvement of humanities biological form to a more advanced state represented by Spartans. Not incorporating technology or linking human minds to the Domain.
Also the Forerunners tended to use something called Geas, genetically encoded suggestion program, control and manipulate people rather than a mechanical implant. Which implies in Halo mechanical implants aren’t the best way of achieving mind control over an individual since the Forerunners didn’t do it that way.
Although in Halo Envoy they do have this weird helmet thing that buries itself into the wearers head and subsumes their consciousness into a hive mind with the Sharquoi these biologically grown soldiers and control them. So some writers have implied they do use implants occasionally as well. So you could argue that Cortana or another AI could use the Domain to achieve the same end, basically doing to humanity what theForerunners did to the Sharquoi.
