As a player of Halo games since the first game came out in 2001 and a reader of the literature written Nylund, Buckell, and Travis, and a long time fan of the culture and lore behind the Sangheili in the Halo Universe I am disheartened to learn that playing as Elites in Halo 4 will no longer be possible as it has been in Halo 2, 3, and Reach.
I have not yet purchased the game myself and though I plan on doing so, the knowledge that my favorite alien race in any Sci-fi universe are no longer playable in any way in Halo 4 creates a great deal of trepidation in me.
In Halo 3 and Reach I played exclusively as a Sangheili for a variety of reasons, mostly because I’ve always liked the look of Elites somewhat more than that of Spartans and always had a fascination with the visual styling of Covenant ships, armor, and races.
More to the point, the fact that Elites are no longer playable in any way shape or form is unacceptable and I’m sure that others feel the same, and it is my hope that those of you who agree and wish for 343 studios to add them into the game with similar levels of customization that Spartans have now and not the reprehensible amount of customization present in Reach.
This is a plea to 343i, we as Elite players ask that you take our request into consideration and hope that in the near future you add my beloved Sangheili into the game in all playlists and gametypes, not just in one or two.
