343’s Forge Team has really outdone themselves with this update. The forge mode in Halo 5 was already incredible, but now that you can change the material of the primitive objects in forge (to forerunner, covenant, wood, etc.) I’m convinced that the forge team is amazing. Absolutely amazing.

Dood, Covenant texture looks sick! Everyone needs to go update their maps. lol. And you can add frost and grime and other additional textures on top. Say you have an object, then you use the stone texture so it looks like an old Halo 2 map like Sanctuary, then you can add grime to it for Infection, then apply the gloom filter, lay some dead bodies and skulls around, then some random fire and now it looks like a mix of Flood infested Delta Halo meets DOOM because this Forge is dope.
I was watching this thinking, hmm, might want to learn to forge. Looks good!
Now if only we could get the classic Forge block set implemented I’d be thrilled.
Finally forge maps won’t have that same look to them. If 343 is trying to bridge the gap between forge maps and ground up ones they’re on the right track. I hope the btb maps get new textures.

Spot on. Tom French and the Forge team communicate with the community directly and implement changes that the community wants, if this was the way all 343 employees functioned Halo 5 wouldn’t be so mediocre.

It’s really exciting! Hopefully the butthurt people complaining about Forge maps being in playlists will settle down a little bit.

Olive is adorable!!! I’m not even a forger but i’m super excited to see what people will make with the new textures. Maybe they’ll even remaster all of the Forge maps in matchmaking right now with the new textures!
