I’m not saying that Infinite has massive potential for a sudden tonal shift midway through the campaign (much like a certain 2001 sci-fi shooter) but IT DOES.
Imagine we’re having a ball just playing around in the colorful sandbox, fighting Banished, admiring the wildlife, rescuing marines, flying around in a banshee and general Halo hijinks. Just as we become comfortable enough in this loop, 343i pulls a 343 Guilty Spark on us. Would be fitting… considering the literal name of their studio. The Flood return, but in a new way, like we’ve never seen them before. Even more terrifying somehow. Obviously, 343i would never dare give away even the slightest detail about it prior to launch, so that it comes as a surprise.
Would this be imitating CE too much? Maybe we could use a bit of that tbh…
A plot twist in Halo would be really good these days. Happened with CE, and with 2 to a much bigger extent. I perssonally think halfway through the game it should chuck a spanner in between your fight with the banished and add flood, maybe they come out at night or something. Give it a really cool reveal and i’d be so damn happy.
I want to see another 343 guilty spark - like level, its flood release was beautifully crafted
I want to see horrible flood abominations at night with glowing eyes… or… whatever the flood have instead of eyes. Just hangin out next to a tiny mobile firebase sitting by a campfire with some marine and all of the sudden… WHOOSH one marine gets pulled into the darkness. The other marines start screaming bloody murder “BLOODY MURDER! BLOODY MURDER!” Then a creepy flood thing comes out and eats a few more marines and then you kill it, turn around, BAM theres like fifty more. The flood is a perfect horror… creature… I guess. More horror is needed

Yea, I definitely think it’s been long enough since CE that we can have a “reimagined” Guilty Spark-like reveal.
Immediately when i saw screenshots of day/night cycle in Infinite,i thought how cool and creepy it would be if the Flood appeared at night!

Seriously praying for this… I think that getting back the flood is a very key element in making the game feel serious. Particularly when master-chief is un-killable and you know he’ll be the protagonist for at least the next ten years, we need something to make the danger feel real.
Honestly, I miss the flood and the horror ambience in the first few halo titles. A part of me wishes the flood to return as a threat in some way but this is 343i in charge. chances are if they did something like this, they’d have some twist on it that divides fans further.
We need the flood to return. We have been waiting for more than a decade.
A horror level would be amazing
CE is my favorite game just because of how well the introduction of the flood and the subsequent levels utilized everything about the visual/audio experience to create and atmosphere of legitimate horror. If 343 can recreate that masterpiece I am theirs forever.
Well, we know we’re fighting the Banished, and there’s still no word on either the Flood or the Created.
Could such a (horror) twist possibly include them both? Making the discovery halfway through that the Created got onto the ring to fight the Flood which had somehow gotten released. Would be pretty nasty to get caught between the crossfire of those two.
Hell, a situation like this would call for Cortana and her Galaxy Police to actually step up and do their job. Warden Eternal versus a Flood Juggernaut? Taking all bets!
