I think until we get a proper XP system, we could make the current challenge based system WAY better by copying MCC.
1: reduce the number of challenges per week from 20, to 10.
2: replace the XP granted from those challenges with 1 XP grant that is worth 1000XP (1 whole level).
3: allow all challenges except the Ultimate challenge capable of progressing at the same time.
4: make the Ultimate challenge ONLY reward the cosmetic.
5: Now that weekly challenges are worth more reward, there are more of them, and they can be done simultaneously, the actual objectives in those challenges can be made just a little bit less generic. Not so specific as to require one particular game mode or weapon, but you can use weapon groups, like CQC, Precision, Explosive, Vehicles etc, or “Slayer modes” (gametypes where kills are the objective vs “Objective modes”.
The goal here is to have challenges be more engaging than they are now both in terms of rewards and objectives, without relying on pure luck. The motivation for using a 1000 XP grant instead of simply rewarding you with XP is twofold. Firstly so that you can aquire it with one Pass equipped (the one you are levelling normally) but choose to use it on a different one. Secondly to inspire players to keep doing challenges after completing their pass because they can save up grants to use in a future one for a boost. While also not requiring players to grind-grind-grind every week if they don’t want to, in general these challenges will likely be doable in an afternoon or two if you’re skilled or plan your playlist selection out. Even if you do all your challenges in a week that’s still only 10 levels of the pass. If you want to complete it in less than 9-10 weeks you’ll still have to grind your daily 100xp challenges out. So I don’t think this would allow players to get Passes done too quickly compared to where it’s at now. That was the reason for consciously removing any XP reward from the Ultimate challenge. With it serving as purely a cosmetic unlock on its own.
Thoughts?
They’ve already made it easy enough to finish the pass before even half the season is over. Why make it that much shorter? This would be like the 4th or 5th time they’ve made it easier to get XP, or get more, etc.
Okay, but their goal in the future is to make seasons half as long. So it’s going to need to progress faster by then, this would only make the average time to complete a pass two months instead of three. But would also reduce the amount of time per week required to hit that.
Even with the current system working people have to dedicate 4-5 nights a week if they want to reach that mid-season completion. It’s asking for far more time invested than the competition. Dedicating 1-2 nights per week for only a slightly faster potential is more realistic and will be pretty much required once seasons are cut in half.
I’m already at level 18 in Season 2 (granted, I’ve had some spare time over the last few days that I wouldn’t normally have).
I just want challenge based progression only gone. I dont want to grind for challenges to progress. As an added benefit…sure. but primary means of progress…no.
I absolutely hate the current system. Fortnite and cod are less grindy than this game andbi acutally enjoy the progression.
I get frustrated when i have to see what challenges i gotta do to progress when instead i just want to play whatever i want whenever i want AND still progress.
I honestly dont even care for the game anymore bc of how dumb these challenges are.

Same exact feeling I and many others have. Well said.
The challenge system is fundamentally broken, there is no way to have a “holdover” that’s any better than the current system. Your primary form of progress should never be challenges.
My proposal:
- Overhaul challenge system with match XP system.
- Get rid of weekly challenges, make more daily challenges, and make all challenges far more generic. Possibly even per match challenges that provide bonus XP.
- Add a single, handcrafted Ultimate Challenge every week - and make it an actual challenge (think Vidmaster, or unlocking the Hayabusa helmet), not just a “do x y number of times”.
- Weekly Ultimate Challenges should never expire.
- (Optional) allow players to earn 1-5cR for completing all daily challenges.
What this does:
- Gets rid of FOMO
- Players no longer have to play gametypes/ways they don’t want in order to get any XP/weekly unlock
- Draws players back daily to earn more XP (and possibly cR)
- Draws players back weekly to earn more ultimate unlocks
- Incentivises players to buy more tokens so they have enough to purchase things they like from the shop, at a lower price than they normally would have to pay, through earning cR through normal gameplay.
Alternatively, cR could be earned by completing all daily challenges for a week straight or something.

I think I would rather the challenges tied to the game mode rather than the player.
For example each playlist have five challenges that you can complete each week before a reset.
If you completed all five challenges from each playlist you can advance to the Ultimate Challenge.
