A halo horror game idea

Yesterday, I was binge-watching a lot of those “Analog horror” vids that popped up in the last couple of years and BOY are they horrifying! After going through one more episode of the Walten files, something dawned on me… I just realized there’s an untapped horror game idea that Halo could do, IDK if anyone’s done this yet:

The Covenant has assigned a 4 member Sangheili strike team to kill everyone in a UNSC base, only for a last-minute mistake to expose a literal underground ONI black project that was abandoned in the 2300s. This would be a far more interesting (not to mention original, and subversive) idea than the usual Flood horror ideas that’s been done to the death. Exploring the contrast of what would scare a Sangheili means that the game would be forced to rely on disturbing imagery/audio and suspense rather than cheap jumpscares to frighten and unnerve the players - and yes, it would take horror elements from “found VHS” horror videos with a bit of procedural generation in each playthrough to heighten the unpredictablilty.

A lot of what would scare most Humans would not frighten a battle-hardened Sangheili trained from birth… but what he’s going to experience will leave him shaking, anxious, and on the verge of complete emotional breakdown, begging to be let free**.**
What do you think?

I still want to see a Halo survival horror video game going in a style of the Resident Evil 2 remake where the story focus on a small group of UNSC Marines or ODST Troopers trying to survive the Flood infestation. I can also see the Halo survival horror video game that is set during Halo 3.

I’m a fan. I rolled my eyes when I saw the title of this thread, assuming it was going to be the 1000th “hey I have a totally original idea about a group of ODSTs/Marines/Spartans fighting the Flood” post (no offense to anyone who has made that sort of post, but I think we have all had that idea at some point).

But making it about some creepy several-hundred year old bioweapon could be interesting. I also like it because I want more lore about the early days of the UNSC. Things like the Rainforest Wars and the original solar system-wide wars that took place between Earth, Mars, and the Jovian Moons. There’s a ton of cool and obscure lore to explore in that part of Halo’s timeline.

Thank you for your feedback! ONI and the UEG really need that spotlight on some of the most atrocious crimes they’ve committed in the name of protecting humanty outside of Halsey’s SPARTANS and whatever ONI’s dumb plan to poison Sangheilio’s crops was.

Who says it has to be a bioweapon? s o m e t h i n g e l s e m a y b e ?
