Okay, so must of us realize Halo 5’s campaign was awful. They screwed up a lot, from level design to campaign length, from making Cortana evil to not even using Chief in the game. I was wondering if anybody in the community would like to start a massive rewrite program with me, using everything we know from Halo 4, especially Spartan Ops, and at least just writing a story, but maybe even “level design.” I kinda have a rough draft in my head right now, at least a general rough idea.
It would definitely involve the Janus Keys, but not involve anything from the Escalation comics. I would still like a sort of rogue Chief, but nothing with Osiris totally hunting him down. I’m still on edge about the Guardians and I don’t really want evil Cortana. I would like for Thorne to actually be used in it as well, a long with bringing in Blue Team and doing them right. I would like Arbiter to be used correctly as well, with some more action on Sanghelios.
This really isn’t a discussion thread on whether or not Halo 5’s campaign was good or not, the basis of the thread is that it isn’t. Even if you think it was awesome, would you still like to make a different one? If you would want to take part in this, start posting stuff in the comments for a rough idea kinda thing. If we get enough people, I’ll make a Spartan Company dedicated to it. If we do get it started, I’d like for people to at least have a laptop with teamspeak on it so that we can have good discussions on it, because XBL Parties would not work well in big groups.
Level design? Sorry have to disagree there. The levels were awesome. Also Cortana isn’t necessarily evil. She feels she is doing what is necessary for the greater good. While I can agree the script of H5 was bad. The level design was awesome and the plot isn’t as horrible as most make it out to be.
The levels are actually really fun and feel well designed. They just missed the mark with script and characters. I don’t think a rewrite would help anyone. We need to move forward, not rewrite the past.

I meant level design if we were to write a new story. The question was rather we would go in detail and create levels to go along with the story or just write a script so to speak. Cortana right now is evil, they didn’t develop her issue, they just made her evil. We can talk all hypothetical about her forever, but right now, she’s evil.
Again, I said this wasn’t a discussion thread about it. The basis is that Halo 5’s campaign was not good enough for us and that we want to remake it completely. If you are interested in participating in a rewrite, then post a reply saying you are and if you have any ideas related to my second paragraph in the OP, post them as well.

I think its still something fun to do, maybe it could even show 343 how dedicated this community is and show them what they’ve really done wrong.

I don’t think there’s a lot of demand for Halo FanFic.

Yeah OP didn’t like what I was saying either so I got snipped at too… Hmm…

Guideline
Cortana is still dead.
No Osiris, No Blue team, just Chief and Arby. Clean up
Boss fight against Jul M’dama. (Early game)
Idc how you explain it, promethians disappear.
Palmer has an aneurysm. Halsey has an aneurysm.
The Infinity gets attacked by flood lifeforms. Story
Flood return, Halo rings, Guilty Spark, Mendicant Bias, Precursors, Brutes, Elites Hunch over again and look bad -Yoink- like in Halo 3/Odst.

Yeah, so was -Yoink!-. And you know what they both did? Killed millions of people who didn’t fit their “vision”. And wanted to rule the world/universe with their mindset being the only “correct” one.
Except that Cortana killed more people, and -Yoink!- had understandable (albeit terrible, that don’t justify what he did) motives for his actions. Cortana just got revived by space magic and decided “Hey, I’m gonna go kill a ton of people now”. So yeah, no. Cortana definitely comes off as evil, and without any explanation showing otherwise, I think I’ll be sticking to that thought. But forgive me if I’m wrong, because clearly killing millions of people without remorse for selfish reasons is CLEARLY not evil.

My H5… It would have been Chief trying to track down Halsey since she was with Jul. The UNSC wouldn’t have really known where Chief was and Locke would have been tasked with finding him… an actual hunt. Since one of the trailers for H5 was Chief walking through a desert and holding Cortana’s chip his objective is to find Halsey to fix Cortana. On his hunt for Halsey he encounters a guardian… as shown in a trailer. He finally gets to her and then there is an epic boss fight between Chief and Jul. Of course Chief wins and then Halsey informs him that Cortana isn’t dead and was in the domain and there is no tell in her condition. Meanwhile while Locke is trailing him he has to figure out who or why these guardians are being activated. Something like that.

Space magic… she survived by going into the domain. Also NO she just isn’t killing at random at all. She is activating guardians as to “bring peace to the galaxy” she thinks or is trying to end all the wars using them. So yes she does have a vision and feels she is doing for the greater good… kinda like Halsey did by kidnapping children for the Spartan program.

Jesus, does no one understand this thread. This went from discussing whether or not this should be happening to if Cortana is evil or not. Which right now, until we get a further explanation, she is. If you want to take part in this thread, take part in the actual topic. If you don’t want to, shut up. I will start reporting for non-constructive posts for any off topic comments after this one.

Yeah, that’s a good guideline to start with. I was also thinking about doing a triple hunt kinda thing, revolving around the Janus Keys more so. I need to do Spartan Ops again to get all the information, but I’d rather not include anything from Escalation, as the game should not require out of game information (novels, comics etc) and because Escalation was stupid.

It still will, a little bit. My hope is that we have it to where Chief is rogue, but its not as much focused on him being hunted, its focused on him being alone for the first time really. That’s what I feel Cortana’s death should’ve done. Of course, eventually he’ll hook up with Arbiter once the game were to heat up and get into the full on war part of it. But first I’d like for him to just leave after getting some intel from Lasky on Halsey’s location.
