Bloom is, and always has been, a crucial part of the Halo sandbox. It was there, we couldn’t see it, and we were all happy.
Then Halo: Reach made bloom visual, i.e. the expansion of the crosshairs the more you shoot. A lot of people complained, but, 343i appeased the vocal minority of the community by introducing zero bloom and to Reach.
But now we’re going to receive the same rants once this game is released because for some reason, bloom is visual again?
I don’t have a problem with this being so, but why would you backflip on a game mechanic you derided so much in the previous Halo installment? Bit odd of you, 343!
I disagree with your first sentence. I don’t think there was ever a mechanic in the first 4 games that meant you were less accurate if you fired at the max rate of fire, and more accurate if you fired slower (save automatic magnum in Halo CE).
Precision weapons never had bloom until Reach, and automatic weapons never had reset time on their spread until Reach. If you burst fire a CE or H3 AR, it is pinpoint accurate everytime you pull the trigger for those first few bullets. In Reach, you have to wait for the bloom to reset its accuracy.

I’ve never truly had a problem with bloom, because I try to keep my calm and let my reticule reset. I do love zero bloom, or 85% bloom, though. Bloom should never really be a problem as long as you know how to work with it.

Bloom has never been on any precision weapon in the Halo series up until Reach. It is a horrible game mechanic, and there is no possible way to balance such a game mechanic. By design it is random! Nothing will ever change that, and I dont undertsand why people dont see this.
There will be times where you shoot slightly slower then someone else, and because the game mechanic in bloom is a flawed RANDOM system. The person firing slightly faster will RANDOMLY hit his 4 shots before you do. And in other instances that same encounter will end differently, not because of the persons abilities, but the game decided to make the person firing slightly faster miss this time instead of hitting his final shot. thus making him the loser instead of repeating the same results from the first encounter.
Its inherent once you add any type of bloom to any weapon. The scenario is unavoidable, and is stupid. Anyone who denies this is just turning a blind eye to what bloom actually introduces to a game!

Not to mention the overall power of the DMR. It NEEDS bloom to be balanced in Halo 4.
Bloom having been in Halo before Reach is mostly a fallacious claim someone came up with to justify its existence. There has been no bloom in precision weapons before Reach. What happened in CE was that the spread was larger when you held the trigger down. It didn’t actively change the size of the spread depending on your rate of fire as bloom would do. In both Halo 2 and 3, there was only a passive spread that was always the same no matter how fast you pulled the trigger.
Now, yes, bloom has been on most automatic weapons since CE. However, that’s something everyone is fine with. No one is complaining about Assault Rifle having bloom, because the whole mechanic has different effects on the weapon when it comes to automatics than with precision weapons.

Not really. A slowed rate of fire or even recoil would have been much better. Bloom is just random.

1.Load up Halo CE (Or CEA)
2.Pick up a magnum
3.Hold down the trigger. While it may not be as fast firing as an AR, it is still fully automatic.
With bloom on certain guns is makes you more skilled if of a player if you can master it. People need to understand that bloom makes it so mucheasier or harder to get a kill… And brou back a great feature from reach
