A Halo 4 Beta is not needed at all. Video.

I made a video here explaining why we don’t need a Halo 4 beta. If you’re one of those people begging for one I’d advise clicking the link. Betas have IMO more negatives than postives.

How are 343 going to know what to polish and what’s overpowered/underpowered without a BETA?

That’s right. They’re going to sell us the BETA as the full game and then patch everything that doesn’t work.

No game “needs” a beta but imo it would be smart to have one if they could because it’ll help to find way more bugs/problems then a closed beta (leading to a better game on day 1.) and also it lets people decide whether or not they like the game without having to buy it.

That’s the average game anymore. Just focused on Sales, not a fun experience.

Gamers opinions are usually bad with a beta. Did you watch the video? When has a beta been beneficial to Halo? The core game remains the same, most of the weapons remain the same, the awesome things that you get used to all of a sudden suck and you spoil the final product. 343 is doing it right.

The nuke grenades in the Reach beta…

a beta would be nice for server and MM stresstest  Cant wait to see the “Cant connect to Halo4 Server” message at launch.

Something a lot of people are missing: Halo 4 will have a Beta, it just won’t be public.

This^^^^

Beta’s ruin what we expect in the final product.

a closed one is not confirmed  Its only INternal testing with Microsoft people.

Eh, in the past the Halo betas have just been a cheap tactic to boost sales of a poorly selling game.

While a beta certainly helps, the Halo games that havn’t had a public beta have been the best.

so true op

on the bright sde we will have a fun first week full of exploits!

I can no longer take anything you say seriously. Every game has sloppy launches with or without a beta. Tell me the last game that had a smooth launch?

I’m going out and doing some interviews today and I know when I come back that video will contain a lightsaber bar because everyone wants a beta to play the game early. Nobody wants a beta to actually help the game out. I mean maybe some people actually want to have the game tested but it’s like a 99/100 ratio in favor of people that just want an early play.

“y we no can test gaem! Gaem willz b bad!!!”

Translates to…

“I want to play this game so badly…”

People forget that they ARE testing it with people outside the studio, it’s just not going to be available to the public in general. In addition they are doing a lot of internal testing.

Every online multiplayer game should have a public beta

Having a beta equals:
Better testing from a real network of real people.
Proper feedback from people actually playing the game.
Bugs and glitches found early stopping tonnes and tonnes of post release patching.
Good promotion of the game and allowing a player to test out the game pre-launch to see if they like it or not.

If halo 4 has no beta then it will need at least a demo before release. Otherwise it will be the least sold and most rented halo of all time. 343 can show vidocs all they want, its not gonna sell us on a game that has a high likelihood of bugs/glitches. They can call it testing all they want, but you will find the real world isn’t on system link, the real world consists of different connection speeds, different ping, all sorts of variables I almost guarantee they are not testing for.

I find it interesting that some of the same people who say that Halo CE and 2 had the best multiplayer say that Halo 4 needs a Beta. Regardless, I don’t know how many benefits there would be. Whenever there’s a Beta, people will report what they don’t like or what they don’t think works. The developers never hear from the people that do like it. In Reach, people complained that the Beta Plasma repeater was too powerful, then it got ridiculously nerfed to the point of uselessness. I have mixed feelings about whether there needs to be a beta or not but to be honest, I’d be fine with Halo 4 not having one.

I didn’t watch the video (wont say why, don’t want to offend) so i don’t know what reasons were given.

I’m thinking they will do a demo like what Mass Effect 3 had. A single campaign mission and two multiplayer missions. This would be the best course of action. I’m thinking two weeks before release they release a demo.
