What about a covenant shotgun? I mean Humans have the shotgun and the forerunners have their scattershot but the covenant don’t have a shotgun like weapon? I would think the Elites would of used such a weapon since they tend to want to get close to you. Maybe, a weapon for officers who haven’t yet obtained a high enough status to use the Energy sword?
IMO it would have 4 shots since plasma is the hardest state of matter to achieve and would sit somewhere between the shotgun and scattershot in distance. Probably an explosion of plasma from the gun in front of you. Would have to be concentrated so it doesn’t turn into the Incineration cannons little brother.
That’s just my idea. agree/disagree?
(The mauler doesn’t count because it was a brute weapon integrated into the covenant not one made for every species involved.)
It wouldnt be a shotgun in our sense of the word. Maybe like a force gun? Like a burst of a concussive grenade just at shorter range.

About that as well. Honestly, to me they should of just made the boltshot a single fire sidearm and implement a covenant shotgun like weapon. Yes, force makes the most sense when dealing with plasma type weapons. I was thinking maybe something similar to the concussion rifle except smaller pellets like the shotgun pellets that exploded on impact. It would have less range then the scattershot but more then the shotgun. Also a nice added effect could be the spartan or your spartan turns into an ash pile.

Seeing as the Storm though is more radical then the covenant was they might turn to using weapons they didn’t use before. That’s the way I see it. The sword itself is more of a ceremonial weapon to the Elites. It was meant as a honorable weapon to fight the enemy in a honorable fashion but like I said the storm being more radical might throw that away so they can get what they want.
