Alot of peoples problems with sprint is the fact that someone can just get a chump kill with sprint then beatdown.
My idea is if you made sprinting slowly dissingrate your shield nobody would want to rush and would use sprint how it was properly designed… to get around the map.
And to add, your health could auto regenerate right away to make it a little more practical (unless you get shot of course.)
I feel like just not having it to begin with is a much easier and more effective solution. Seems needlessly complex to have your shields drain while sprinting. I would rather just have Reach-style sprint in that case.
That would feel awkward, and it just sounds stupid.
Best case scenario, sprint is left in a corner to die, and is forgotten. Unfortunately, I think Bungie set the bar so low that 343 feels a primitive urge to make a game worse than Reach.
Problem with sprint isn’t its offensive capabilities, it’s the defensive capabilities. In the previous Halo’s, if you got caught in a bad position, you had to rely on your strafe and shot to win the battle. Now, if you’re caught in a poor position and down a couple of shots, you just have to run away.
Sprint works in shooters like CoD and Battlefield because kill times are so quick, you really can’t run away, making sprint more of a getting from point-to-point faster function. In Halo, kill times are too long for sprint, making it work as a “Wow, that kid is beating me, so I’m just gonna jet on out of here” function.
