A Goodbye to Kenneth Scott, Halo 4's...

Senior Art Director.

This article is where I found out today. First his wife Corrinne Yu left 343i and I guess he had to leave to.
These two helped to make Halo 4 one of the best looking games on Xbox which is truly a great feat. They will be missed.

I hope 343i manages to do well without them.

Man that sucks, I actually really liked the graphics and art style in H4. I’m not a graphics guy either, but the detail on Master Chief was just really impressive and the first thing I noticed when popping in the game.

I guessed Nicholas would take over the role… I wonder why she left.

I always find that excuse weird.

I too find that pretty weird. However, it is a shame that he’s leaving. All we can do is wish them luck.

I did not know Scott and Yu were married. Anyways, I’ll miss the two. They did a great job on Halo 4.

I’m not sure what to think of this. On one hand, Halo 4 did have some gorgeous set pieces, and many designs were great on their own accord.

On the other hand, we have terrible designs like the new MJOLNIR armour that make me happy that this guy is stepping down, so perhaps having a new lead art designer will help change those.

Halo 4 is absolutely beautiful… Minus most of the armors design’s. it just doesn’t look like something a soldier would actually wear (I’m looking at you, Pionner)
If it were a real helmet, it sure looks Real though. I really like The art in terms of realism, just not the design. Either way, I’m sorry to see you two go.

First Joe Staten from Bungie, and now this D: what’s happening!

Being separated from your family is never easy. Corrinne moved out of state, and I’m sure she missed Kenneth terribly, and I know Kenneth missed her just as much. I’m happy they’re going to be under the same roof again.

While I will miss him on a daily basis, he’s going to partner with us under a newly created role entitled “Visual Design Consultant” so he will still be making his (very beautiful!) contributions to the Halo universe. And for that I’m thankful.

Carry on.

It’s great to see that Kenneth will be reunited with Corrinne while still working with 343 Industries, even if remotely.

I’m happy to see he is still working with 343  he is an amazing artist. I’m even happier they’re together again.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but, in case you’re interested, Kenneth Scott has landed at Oculus.

I though Halo 4’s art style was incredibly lame compared to Reach’s…

Maybe they didn’t like the way the franchise was going, and jumped ship…?

Either way, that really sucks, because the graphics were definitely one of the best parts of Halo 4.

I can’t make an honest judgment of Halo 4’s graphics. My 360 is ancient, and the hardware consistently struggles with the game, multiplayer in particular. I consistently get render issues on Vortex, Meltdown, Longbow…

But I will say this… even with those performance shortfalls, it was obvious that Halo 4 was experimenting with new things for Halo 5. With just a bit of imagination, I can see Halo 5 being one truly gorgeous game, with the hardware and code to back that statement up.
