A good idea for Halo 4...

Assuming that forge, or some form of map editor with that caliber returns in halo 4, I thought I’d share my thoughts on this.

Let me introduce the idea to you though, a few of you may remember this game. It was called Call of Duty: Black Ops. While I am typing this post, I am playing something called combat training. It is designed for people with less skill than others to get ready for actual online combat, it is used for people who have sketchy connection to play multiplayer without having to connect to people, and it is for the users to kill time and have fun doing it.

Now, I thought to myself, “It would be cool if Halo had something like this.”

As I thought more about it, the more light shined on it for it to be useful. For example, lets just say that your internet isn’t exactly on your side today, (or ever). I would like to say that you could just go on a stock map, and play a game of team slayer or big team battle with fifteen other bots.

Another idea surged through my head! If done correctly, and if forge, or some other map editor, returns in Halo 4, then the bots could spawn on the spawn points you have placed, and ultimately allow the bots to play on custom maps. If you’re a forger like me, who doesn’t have many friends who play reach anymore, you know it can be really tough to find people to play your forge maps with. If bots are implanted as an option in game, to take the place of those who do not show up, then you could adjust the number of players, gametype, and more things in order to test out your map without the use of other players.

Now, the thing you might be thinking, “Bots are stupid” and “Bots can’t play on classic custom games!” Both of which are true. Bots are not as smart as regular players, and cannot adjust themselves to the rules of an actual game. But for forgers such as myself, who create custom maps for competitive multiplayer, it would be great fun, and great for development.

Another concern is that the game mode combat training in Call of Duty: Black Ops is only available for team deathmatch and free for all. (Team slayer and slayer). But Halo 4 can make it more unique. They can make the ai encoded into the bots big good enough to capture flags and carry it back to base. Smart enough to take and plant the bomb. Smart enough to infect the people during infection, to get in vehicals during team slayer. To jump. Anything and everything. I know 343 can do this.

Now just think, how good would it be to have a combat training styled system in Halo 4?

Tell me your thoughts.

As awesome as an idea this is, it was confirmed that there are no bots in Halo 4 :frowning: We can only hope they in the next game.

Forge has been confirmed to be returning. As for you idea, yeah it would be cool to have bots to play test maps or to practice on.

You never know. Maybe they were talking about forge-able bots, and not the offline fighting kind, for say combat training.
