A giant list for a perfect Halo game!

After following Halo for a long time, reading the forums, and speaking to the community on a daily basis I wanted to compile a list of ideas, improvements, and changes that can either be patched into Halo 4 or included into Halo 5 from the ground up.

I will split the list into categories just to keep things simple and easy to read. As a community it is important to compile a list of our wants for future Halo games both good ideas and bad ideas, so that everything is in one place.

Core Gameplay (Mutiplayer)

[/li]- A single starting weapon and the removal of loadouts,

  • The reversion of the Loadout system to the Halo: Reach loadout system,
  • A fast (increased) base movement speed to make strafing more effective thus increasing the games skill gap,
  • A reduction in bullet magnetism/aim assist again to increase the skill gap,
  • The removal of music in the final moments of multiplayer games.
  • The removal of sprint, and or armor abilities.
  • The removal of ordnance,

Mutiplayer Maps

[/li]- A large selection of Small fast paced 4v4 Maps designed for both Objetctive, and Slayer.

  • Large 8v8 Maps designed for big team,
  • Maps suitable for 2v2 and 3v3 Doubles and Multi Team gameplay,
  • A stronger focus on competitive map making,
  • Timeable weapon drops than can be accurately predicted,
  • A reduction of on the map weapons,

UI/Menu/Other

[/li]- The inclusion of a spectator mode for the competitive community,

  • Stronger volume control functionality in the menu
  • The reinclusion of mutiplayer theater watching
  • The ability to take custom screenshots from forge maps
  • Improved control over sensitivity axis by axis

Matchmaking, Ranking, Player Investment

[/li]- Separate categories for competitive/social/community

  • Skill based ranking based off the visual TrueSkill system from Halo 3
  • A player investment system tied into the TrueSkill system
  • The ability to refine search based on connection
  • Playlists from launch for competitive settings
  • Custom game searching (Asked for since Halo 3)

How bout spending more time playing the game and enjoying it as it is than wasting time “researching” whats wrong with the game when there isn’t anything wrong with it? After Jan 21, 2013, Halo 4 is becoming better and better.

Rather than the complete removal of loadouts (I don’t think it’s realistic to ask 343 to pull a 180 with the direction of their games), I agree with most of this, besides the increase in base speed. Halo 4’s movement speed is the same as Halo 3’s (actually, about 1 or 2% slower by testing on Ragnarok, so it’s not bad, it’s just that the size of maps in this game, along with a restricted field of view, makes base speed feel slow.

I disagree with a lot of it.

AAs, Loadouts and Ordinance (as along with sprint) should stay but it should be in the social playlist only. The competitive playlist won’t have any of those(except sprint) because it is a place of competitive play. A social playlist is meant to have fun, which loadouts, AAs, and Ordinance will provide.

Simple Soltion to everybodies problem.

I think limiting it that far would only lead to low populations in the competitive playlists. Don’t use personal ordinance or random drops in them, and maybe have a custom setting that nullifies perks, but loadouts and AA’s (provided that loadout weapon balance is good) should be kept overall, imo. I just think their removal would cause too much of a split.

Personal Opinions wont make a perfect game, and all games are never perfect.

When i mean keep ordanace, i mean in only certain gamemodes, but doing this is something worth trying if you want to please both sides of the community.

wow, for a minute there you had me going. i honestly believed you had talked to alot of major community members and was going to list some of the things people want to see in the next halo game, but nope just some more a hate halo 4 complaints. seriously buddy you just described a game you already have on your shelf. if you really did speak for the community dont you think ppl would just put halo 3 in rather than be so depressed over h4? the other thing here is the halo community are the fans of halo. you dont like odst, you dont like reach ill assume, and you dont like halo 4. if i throw halo wars in there, that means you dislike more halo games than you like. your no longer a fan and you just havent realized it yet pal. wake up guy, you dont fit the description anymore. its time for you to do some soul searching and divorce halo. it belongs to those that do love it.

I have to say I agree with your list totally, but it will never happen. You’re basically asking them to make a super competitive game and that isn’t their philosophy. 343 and Microsoft only worry about initial sales, they’ve succeeded in making their quotas and Halo 5 will definitely build upon every aspect of Halo 4 (expanding loadouts, BTB gametypes etc).

It’s not getting more competitive, the only chance is a playlist that incorporates major changes like Anniversary Halo Reach (which I really enjoyed).

I’d predict that Halo will continue to decline but still make large amounts of money and continue pumping out games. It’s only a matter of time until a new IP comes out on whatever system or PC that gives us the Halo we want (although not called Halo).

tl;dr: the gameplay you crave will come eventually
