A Gametype Like Search In Halo 4...

Now before people rage and completely flip out I just want you guys to listen to my idea. I honestly think that Halo needs a gametype like Call of Duty’s Search and Destroy. Why? Because its fun, because you can show others how good you can do in a clutch situation and it takes teamwork. Its also my favorite gametype on Call of Duty… but that one doesn’t matter. haha.

All I’m saying is that Halo needs a elimination gametype. I don’t know I thought it was a good idea… tell me what you think.

I wonder how it would work… Doesn’t seem right for Halo.

EDIT: Just remembered isn’t assault basically search?

What’s Search and Destroy? Sorry, I’m not exactly voluble when it comes to CoD.

I think it’s a good idea.

I’d love to play Search and Destroy in Halo because I hate Call of Duty a lot for multiple reasons.

Can’t really answer with a yes or a no. If said gametype was created I would have to play it and see how balanced it was. If the gametype was balanced and retained a viable population I would see no reason to disregard it.

Maybe.

It’s close to assault.
You have two objectives A and B.
One team plants the bomb at an objective, the other team can defuse it.
The round ends when:

  • One team eliminates all other players of the other team (who only have one life).
  • The bomb is planted and it explode.
  • Or if one team defuses the bomb before it explodes (If the other team plants the bomb).
Lasts up to 7? rounds first to 4 wins.

Also one team is offense, and one is on defense.

We already have a similar gametype,it’s called “1 bomb” at it fits more the Halo playstyle.

1 life/turn it’s not good for Halo,never was.

Also,Search & Destroy is a campfest.

If you read the post you would know that I meant a gametype that had elimination (1 life)

Halo 1 shipped with Slayer Elimination.

If YOU read MY post you would know that i knew it.

Elimination gametypes never work. People just go for kills over actually playing the objective. How many Flag Slayer games end with less kills than flag capture points? If the attackers decide to camp, then the round will end with time.

TF2’s Arena mode at least remedies the elimination gameplay by adding a capture point to instantly end the round if one team decides to just wait it out.

So, like Rush from BF3 combined with one-life of Infection and then elimination to hae it go off?

Eh, too sketchy for me.

Nope, it wouldn’t work kn Halo IMO. People would just camp with active camo. But, I’d like it if there were no AA’s.

i like the idea would need work but i like it

I like the idea basically just because one of the first shooters I grew up with on the computer was counter-strike. Still, I don’t know how well it would work in halo. And since they already have assault, it’s not gonna happen anyways.

Actually, Halo DID used to have an option like this. It was in Halo 1, but alsoo back in Halo 2 there was an “Elimination” gametype where players had a set amount of lives, a lot of the time being only 1 life. I remember playing it online a lot.

You can create a similar gametype in Reach now:

Set up an Assault gametype, and change the number of lives to 1.
