A fun Halo crossover idea

For this past while, I’ve been taking a break from Halo and playing World of Tanks on Xbox One. It’s a 15v15 vehicular combat MMO where you can take control of armored vehicles consisting of light tanks, medium tanks, heavy tanks, tank destroyers, and artillery from a slew of nations to obliterate the enemy team. But recently, I had this one really cool idea: what if World of Tanks had a crossover with Halo?

Imagine playing as a Scorpion (M808 or M820), Wraith (Type 26 or Type 58), or even as a Grizzly fighting alongside a whole cast of WW2-Cold War tanks and tearing apart the competition left and right. They’d bring a new level of fear the game has never seen before.

Scarabs, Elephants, and Mammoths would be out of the question. They’d be too big for the maps to handle.

That would be cool but they would probably be a little OP unless maybe tier 10 for Scorpion. I’m not sure how they can even incorporate a Wraith with the type of projectiles it uses.

I see the Wraith being an artillery tank that can function as a heavy tank. The plasma shots would be very visible, so I think the projectiles would have to move faster to make up for that. And thanks to its anti-gravity levitation, it could have decent mobility over terrain. And if they somehow figure out how to incorporate its boosting, it’ll be a great tank for ramming.

The thing about Wraiths is that they are completely fictional. No technology really comes close to that irl so it would be OP. Also, their projectiles would be absolutely unique and because it is fictional the stats would either be theoretical and OP or balanced which would be extremely nerfed. Nothing in the game would match the speed, mobility, and damage.

That would be really cool. I can already see people complaining though because they’re fictional vehicles.

Perhaps they could create a special playlist for these vehicles specifically. For the tank’s 100th anniversary, all players on WoT could play as the British Mark I for a while. The same could be done with the Scorpion and Wraith.

It would be cool to have a game-mode with an enormous vehicle map and each team spawning at oposite ends with a plethora of vehicles to choose from, including tanks, aircraft, and other vehicles like the half-track anti-air Wolverine or the four-legged Locust from Halo Wars.

Hopefully that won’t cause a ton of lag.

Halo Wars can handle hundreds of units, so I’d think a FPS version should be able to handle 20-30ish vehicles on each side, especially if it doesn’t have to deal with keeping track of ammo or dropped weapons.

I have never played Halo Wars but I have seen gameplay and I don’t think it is comparable because it doesn’t have to deal with multiple players (especially if this is a Vehicle BTB) running around, shooting, reloading, picking up weapons, etc. Also, it would have to keep track of ammo and dropped weapons if it was a Vehicle BTB because what if someone has a power anti-vehicle type weapon and wants to use it or someone’s vehicle gets destroyed and they have to resort to their guns for a time. Taking away the guns would be terrible. Spartans do not depend solely on vehicles. I do think it may be possible and my proof is Halo 5 Warzone which has a lot of players and some vehicles. I’m sure they could make it work with more vehicles.

I understand what you’re saying, but I’ll reiterate that your complaints don’t apply to what I’m proposing.
While I’d like to see slightly more vehicle-friendly maps in Warzone where you’re less likely to have a grenade planted in your tailpipe as soon as you spawn the vehicle, My actual suggestion is a game mode that’s JUST vehicles, so it’s all vehicle tactics. No Spartans on foot, using heavy weapons or planting grenades.

I’m imagining you have the initial lobby of 30-40 people, which then splits into sub-lobbies for each team, in which each team can converse on strategy and everyone can pick their vehicles, then the game starts with teams on opposite sides of the map. When a player’s vehicle is destroyed, they get to choose a new vehicle when they re-spawn. There would be no exiting the vehicle, which solves the issues you brought up.

Again this game mode wouldn’t be about being Spartans, or what they can do in the lore. The point is for a vehicle-vs-vehicle game-mode where vehicle tactics aren’t preoccupied with counter-infantry operations.

World of Tanks is purely vehicular combat. No infantry whatsoever. You simply go into battle with all your ammo and supplies and try to blow up the enemy players. Once you blow up, that’s that. You don’t become a foot soldier, your ride is a twisted and burning wreck.

We were talking about this:

The features HaXoR73 pointed out for World of Tanks are strongly correlated with what I was suggesting (a Halo game mode where it’s just vehicle combat, without the infantry).

I think there’s room for a vehicle-only multiplayer game mode, given that all of the other game modes are centered around infantry, and the vehicles in them have to focus their attention on dealing with infantry as much or more than other vehicles, or else they get a grenade in their radiator. Without infantry, we’d have a game mode that’s focused on vehicle vs vehicle tactics.

Halo but Morrowind RPG
