A few questions for those Reach beta veterans

Title says it all, plus people that can accurately answer the question if they have the knowledge/info.

I know I can go look it up on youtube and such, but i just wanted to hear what people thought about this, not just a gameplay vid:

Question 1:Did you actually like Generator Defense?
Question 2:Did you think that Generator Defense was too similiar to Invasion? If so can you state why
Question 3:Any strategies you’ve formed while playing GD?
Question 4:Do you know why was it cut?

If anybody can answer these questions it would mean alot and be very helpful to me.

Q1: Nope, too laggy and annoying.
Q2: Yes. You’re attacking a bunch of Spartans to get to a Generator/Core
Q3: I can’t form strategies if I’ve only played it once.
Q4: It was terrible.

I played the beta and generator defense.

It was actually called Network Test 1 Beta and was really meant to test the game’s networking, and was really never meant to be in after the beta although it was around for a bit.

Q1: No, not really.

Q2: Yes. They both involve you occupying some space to make a timer go down to win. The only difference with Invasion is you have to run a football into the end zone at the end to win.

Q3: Try to keep all generators alive. As generators die your enemy can consolidate forces.

Q4: Not sure, but probabaly because folks quit playing it.

By the way, does anyone know why the toilets in Power House during the beta got cut from the game? Did they flush too hard?

I loved it, it was fun to play.

Not exactly, it was just a network test, Invasion was constantly moving forward and Generator Defence didn’t exactly move forward.

Nah, it wasn’t exactly something that required such strategy, just spam your grenades at the Generator Defences.

It was never a multiplayer gametype, it was a Firefight gametype even in the beta, Bungie originally intended for six play co-op, one player for each Noble Team member, however, it was changed to four player before retail release.

1: Yes, only in co-op
2: No
3: stay on top of the generators, in co-op is easier
4: Because a lot of people didn’t vote it, also it was a networking test gamemode.

Thanks to everybody who replied,I now have a general idea of Generator defenseeven though i did sum up the 4 people’s opiions …,now, I think of Generator Defense in my opinion,:

  1. wasn’t generally liked,
2)was a bit similar to invasion in some ways,
    3)didn’t require alot of strategies,
  2. and was cut because it was a network gamemode. That, and people really didn’t like it.

It is still in Reach, it is a part of Firefight, Genny Defence has always been played off the Campaign & Firefight engine.

It was just too easy to destroy them. All it took was a few of the OP nades from beta and they were history. There were weapon drops for the defenders but they fell so far off the beaten path that if you went for one you lost a generator.

I liked Generator Defense. I did not like the lag that came with its Network testing though.

It was nothing like Invasion, but I would not have minded if Generators could play a role in Invasion gametypes as a sort of objective to be protected or destroyed instead of being solely found in Firefight.

Q1: I enjoyed it, even though it lasted the shortest amount of time.
Q2: Not similar at all in my opinion except for it being spartans v. elites
Q3: Nope, except kill and stay near the generators.
Q4: A few reasons, one the map didnt flow with the gameplay. In the beta the firefight map named Overlook. Two, the attackers always won when I played, yeah you could like shut down the generators but that didnt seem to help for long. Three, there were just too many holes to fix for the mode. I believe it was 3v3, dont honestly remember the body count, but it seemed like if you added more the gameplay would get sloppy and too hard to get all the generators, but 3v3 was too boring at times, and the attackers breezed through. I mean one person per geneator at the spawn, once someone dies, there goes the generator, plus I believe the spawns for defenders sucked Those are just some of the few reasons why it got cut.
Fun game mode, but it willl NEVER come back into the Halo frnachise, but it was a nice idea, good for a beta test.

I dunno why, but I don’t remember Generator Defense at all…
